Sacred Cod Tavern — Restaurant in Chatham

Carol and I stay at CBI a couple of times a year. Covid. As it did to a lot of people's plans..put a damper on things for a year. But we finally went back recently and everything was as great as ever.

From the friendly greeting at the reservation desk ( we didn't need them this time of year) to our waitress to the person who brought the food out. All very pleasant..courteous..friendly conversations..

I started with the salad. Oh my...the Suze was a meal in itself. All fresh cut greens with other assortments and the dressing topping? Probably the best I've tasted...anywhere.

Then a short time later, our food arrived. I ordered...oh boy.. it's been a few weeks..the pit roast?? The taste was out of thus world. Cooked just right. And you didn't even need a knife....with it came mashed potatoes and another side. My deepest apologies. I'm writing this review about a month after our visit. And the topping over the pot roast....ohhh myyyyy. The icing on the cake.

Great, relaxed atmosphere...quiet...couldn't have asked for a better evening. Oh BTW. I have a photo shoot I'm doing in Chatham mid March. We've already reserved our room and depending what dining area is open. We'll definitely have dinner at either their beautiful Stars dining room or the the Tavern.

I wanted to give a shout out to our waitress, Nadeen, at Sacred Cod Tavern. The place was slammed. Regardless, our server, Nadeen, went over and above what was expected. Even though the tavern was extremely crowded and Nadeen was obviously quite busy, she timed drinks, meal, check and take out perfectly. We asked that we get a take out order to arrive about 5 minutes before we were done with our meals. I don’t know how she did it, but her timing was perfect. It was like she knew when we were done with drinks, and appeared asking if we wanted a refill and then after meal was served, she appeared again making sure that everything was ok. After our meal she perfectly timed our take out order as we requested. The finishing touch, going over and above, was making sure ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and salt was included in the bag, along with silverware. She was meticulous with everything. She was polite, professional and knowledgeable. We asked questions about different dishes and she knew her stuff. She never acted rushed though clearly she was juggling many tables. Nadeen is the consummate server and Chatham Bars Inn and Sacred Cod Tavern is very lucky to have her. I hope she’s always my waitress....

Great service, awful food. Ordered the bread for $9, it was just old bread heated for you in under 2 min, basically blackened cranberry bread. Ok, happens. So we ordered the lobster tacos next. They weren't bad, the avocado dressing was bland but it wasn't the star of the dish. Moving onto the entrees, we ordered the roasted eggplant and the beef cheek. The beef was bad, and I mean really bad. It was dry aged and then cooked with so.much.salt.. the eggplant was passable. I don't really know what's so great about this place. We'll pass this place, even as guests of the inn. Go here, only if you're desperate without...
