Read moreWe had a very upsetting experience at this shop. I visited with my husband and two young toddlers. While the kids excitedly picked out wrapped candies from a large, clearly child-oriented display, the owner (a petite older woman with white hair) repeatedly came out from the back to sternly âshushâ themâ practically getting in their faces and reprimanding them harshly.
Despite being paying customers (we were also buying lattes and a large bag of beans), she continued to reprimand our toddlers several times, even very blatantly rolling her eyes and dramatically covering her ears at another mother with an infant in the store who looked equally shocked by her behavior. When we politely asked her to stop addressing our children that way, she told us we âneed to learn to keep our kids quietâ and claimed her shop âisnât a candy store for children and she needs it quiet for her other customersââa baffling statement given the massive candy wall, and the fact that the other customer was also a young mother with a baby.
That same young mom later apologized to us for how uncomfortable the situation was and how awful she felt for us. She was visibly shook up too just by witnessing it.
If you have children, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. The owner clearly does not welcome families, and youâll likely leave feeling embarrassed and unwelcomeâfor simply having kids behaving like kids in a...
Read moreCute, cute, cute. If you are a coffee fanatic like me, try the Dodger roast, which sells for take away by the pound, as it benefits a local animal charity. Stumbled on this place while working at a local business in this town, after another coffee shop closed, and they sell loose tea and coffee blends of all kinds, along with a great selection of tea and coffee related items and other sundries. They have packaged candy like in the old dime store days, great housewarming gifts, fun mugs and other things made by small artisans. Highly recommend. The other day I bought a few things and realized I had forgotten one. I went back and they were closed, but after I pleaded, they were kind enough to let me in and sell me the item I forgot - even though they had already shut their register. Please note that there is no seating here, but they have fresh, delicious coffee and tea to take out. On a nice day, you can find a bench in this town with your coffee or tea, and settle in with a book...
