Im suprised by all the positive reviews. I based my decision to eat here from them. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I don't typically give bad reviews but I feel like I really have to say something here.
My wife and I are in the area on vacation and we were looking for a place for dinner after touring some sites.
I'll just get to it...
The service was extremely slow. After placing our drink order, it took around 15 mintues to get the two waters we requested. You could tell the chips were store bought and I'm pretty sure the salsa is as well.
My wife ordered cheese enchiladas. They tasted like store bought ingredients as well. Canned sauce, store bought tortillas and the charro beans tasted more like pinto beans slowed cooked with a ham bone. Definitely not Mexican.
I had the Pollo Loco. It was the special of the day so I figured, why not?!? First of all it was brought out barely warm at all. I had to send it back to be reheated. The flour tortillas were obviously bought at a near by grocery store. The dish over all was pretty bland. I did all I could to eat half.
Then to top things off, there was a .91 credit card transaction charge on my check when there was no conversation about how I would be paying. I did end up using a credit card but ive never seen that at any other restaurant I've ever dined at.
Yes, we're from Texas so we're spoiled when it come to food but this was a pretty bad experience and...
Read moreFamily of 6 stopped by here after seeing Rock City late afternoon on Saturday. Very clean and neat looking but our server clearly did not want to be there. Waited at the door for about 5 minutes while only one other table was there. They have the oversized red cups which I’m generally a fan of but their straws are too short for them and she brought these same cups for our 2 eight year olds, filled to the brim, had to ask for refills on adult drinks. Salsa was really good but other food was just okay and a bit overpriced. For example, kids bean burrito was 8.99, charged extra 2.55 for a very small amount of cheese dip on top of it and charged another 3 for his drink so almost $15 for one child’s plate. Server brought a ticket but didn’t give it to us- just told us the total and took the card. Then she came back and said that it was actually more because of the drinks. When she came back with credit card slip she tried to only show the total on the ticket but I took it and saw that she’d added gratuity. We tip and I don’t mind it being added but it really felt like she intentionally jacked up our prices, gave crappy service and tried to con her way into a double tip. Overall regret coming here. Go somewhere else if you have kids or aren’t there during a time when they have...
Read moreAmigo's new Kitchen in St. Elmo is the perfect place to get good food, plenty of food, a couple of drinks, all for a reasonable price. The folks here keep a lively atmosphere, and make for sure everything's just right when you visit. I have to give kudos to three people here in specific; Russel, Brittany, and Alma. These three are so genuine feeling to interact with to the point where it feels like youre seeing friends when you visit, but the Amigo's staff as a whole will ensure you feel welcome amd are well-fed no matter. Best part, if (on the slim slim chance) they get something wrong? You don't have to feel bad or feel like someone's gonna spit in your food because you said something. You get more than your money's worth here, and the food is delicious. It's perfectly seasoned, has great taste and will keep me coming back unless somehow they board...
