A gluten free gem! I have celiac disease so options are extremely limited but this restaurant made me feel like I had no limitations! All of the food is gluten free and the server confirmed the restaurant is free of wheat, barely, and rye. I felt so lucky to have this option and I’m so thankful to the restaurant for a gluten free kitchen! I will say everything is a bit pricey, but they explained that they always have fresh meat from the same day and it’s clear everything is made to be top quality. It is definitely worth the price! I ordered the queso con carne and it was very different from a typical queso. It was incredibly seasoned and the meat really stood out, every bite was a burst of flavor. I also got the carnitas, it wasn’t the typical Mexican carnitas but the meat was very good, you can truly tell the quality is top tier. Our table got the fried catfish, yuca, and ribs as well. The catfish was by far the best fried gluten free food I’ve ever had. It was full of flavor and the Tatar sauce was incredible and just added to it. Perfectly spicy and crunchy. The yuca was also amazing and the sauce was perfect. I was told the ribs were the best ribs around, but didn’t try them myself. 100% recommend this place to anyone but specially those with celiac disease. It’s not quite Mexican but it’s not quite Texas BBQ. It’s a nice in between with a twist using incredible spices, high quality meats, and flavorful sauces. It seems like the locals agree this place is amazing because by 6pm there was a line in the parking lot!

The TL;dr If you have dietary restrictions, allergies to any foods, or follow a low sodium diet, wait until they’ve corrected their kitchen and menu issues. We love this group’s other endeavors but this was a miss. Service was great, helpful and friendly. Atmosphere could probably use a slight adjustment keeping in mind about 1/3 of tables had kids with them at the early evening time we went (including us). Somewhat quieter music in the afternoon/ early evening would be good for example. Cocktails were unique and balanced. The menu - as in the physical menu - needs a second look. It was not clear from what dishes had meat or common allergens, and our server ended up recommending dishes that had ingredients some of our party didn’t eat (for example a fish dish that had chorizo butter for a pescatarian). We also later heard the tortillas are cooked in pig fat which might explain one of our party’s stomach upset after the meal. The food was extremely over seasoned. I once ate a mouthful of sea salt at a restaurant (it was a garnish under a bowl of seafood but I thought it was part of the dish) and that is the only time at any restaurant I have eaten food that was so salty. I love salt, truly, think of some of the saltiest dishes around town and I’ve never complained but this was nearly inedible. The queso fundido, the cactus paddle, the sauce that comes with the tostones, and the smoked beef were incredibly over salted. Hopefully our experience was due to the relative newness of the kitchen and will be corrected.

Went for a later dinner at around 7pm on a Saturday. Seating for two was quick if you didn't mind either inside or outside. The atmosphere was rather loud inside due to cozy seating arrangements and music. The food came out piecemeal, but arrived as soon as it was cooked. The charred broccoli was delightful and had shredded cheese on top, a slice of pork belly underneath, and pieces of sautéed yams and small cherry tomatoes included. All entrees included a warm napkin filled with small 4-5 inch tortillas to make your own taco/burritos. Food also came with a trio of pickles, salsa, and crema, all made in house. The crema especially was silky smooth and delicious. We ordered also the brisket, which wqs so tender it could be pulled apart with a single fork. We did also order the Yuca Frites, as we weren't sure how big the small plates would be, but while the frites and it's chipotle mayo dipping sauce was delicious, it was a lot for two people unless you come hungry. For a small dish, a medium dish, and a large dish, no drinks, came to about $50 for two people. The only lack of a star is for noise level. It also carried a constant smell of campfire, which isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you're sensitive to that sort of smell. Overall, delightful, definitely a consideration for a special date night. Might not recommend taking kids as the space doesn't seem conducive to it.

Blueberry mule, Brisket enchiladas, queso, stuffed avacado with carnitas, sweet corn ice cream— the best of the best, and amazing ambiance and bar service. This place is run absolutely flawless and it’s an absolute must for fans of smoked meat and corn tortillas.

UPDATE: so sad that I have to update this review. We tried this restaurant last year when it was still young, and every single thing was a hit. We recently returned with a larger group and was excited about some menus changes. Ordered a bunch from the menu and was left kinda disappointed. So, let me be clear, regarding meats, they’re absolutely spectacular as always. The carnitas were particularly fatty, but if you don’t specify, you kinda get what you get so no issues there. The ribs, and the brisket are probably the best in Chatt. My issue was the sides. We got queso which was just a block of cold cheese that we had to cut with a knife? I genuinely don’t know if it was intentionally served cold or if it sat too long. The rice and beans felt overcooked (rice) and undercooked (beans) and was served almost blended in a thick slop? The roasted peppers and chorizo, I assumed, would have been some sort of charred pepper with a cheese and ground chorizo— something fun to eat or utilize a corn tortilla for. But instead… the peppers were soggy, overly briney, and served with just cold slices of sausage that didn’t seem to pair with the peppers whatsoever. The flavor of the peppers was not one that you could eat by itself, and was just left very confused about like genuinely what its purpose was. When everything came out, I was super excited but then quickly started to question: what do I even use my corn tortillas for? Last time I ate the tortillas with everything— enchilada sauce, melt queso, stuffed avocado— even plate some with the corn ice cream. This time, nothing really seemed to pair well with tortillas? Which is a shame because, between the entire party we ordered almost everything on the menu. I think the sides were a big miss and a little bit more intentional and execution could serve them well in their next menu contributions. I was just disappointed and confused as to what to do with half of the food. The blueberry buttermilk ice cream was delicious though! I’ll keep going every year when I’m in town. I’ll hopefully get to see some upward...

I don’t use this word easily… “Horrible” Second time here … I WILL NEVER / EVER COME BACK HERE / what a disgusting {non} service ‼️

THE “executive chef” walked into the kitchen about 15 min after I sat at the bar … he spoke with the operational (chef actually cooking)

While… the bartender intensely fixed (intensely) for literally 10 min three … drinks

T w e n t y. F I v e minutes passed by while ……. I waited to order to no avail…. While the (extremely arrogant executive) chef ate food, seemingly good as he laughed and smiled with the actual chef as he ate with his fingers food for himself…..

I had great hopes for this place … B U T it is one of the worst; mabye … THE worst “establishments” I have ever been to in my entire life …

Do not waste your life, or T I ME or money here…

Stay A W A Y !!!!!

I waited 27 Minutes and no one … (while the executive chef laughed & ate & acted extremely “above it all”) no one … asked for my order… I just left

You have been warned ❗️▪️▪️▪️

▪️▪️▪️

The “executive chef just came to the bar after the above … got himself a beer / “lone star” and walked away (no clue of the “actual customers”…)

If it could be possible for a minus 10, I would leave it

Read the “owners response” and you decide ? The owner says they have a”service” to write responses to the reviews .. I suppose so they can stay even further out of touch with what this place … could be.

It seeps. “a r r o g a n c e” . This place… The head of the staff …. Sad .

▪️▪️▪️

The “response” from.. “The contact service” that was initially here… has since … been removed...

I was surprised when I was told that the menu was designed around sharing plates and that small plates were like tapas. Nothing on their website indicated that. Post-Covid, dining with friends who I like but don’t want to cross-contaminate with germs, I was surprised that this is their mode of operation and that no serving utensils were provided. The half chicken I ordered was well cooked but nowhere near half of a chicken and for $20 should have been a larger serving. The yucca that came with it had a coating so crisp it was impossible to break open with a fork and difficult with a knife. The NY strip steak my friend ordered at $42 was well cooked but fatty and again, no serving utensil if we were intended to share. My other friend’s $18 bean enchiladas tasted fine but were very dry. The tastiest thing was the complimentary pickle slices. A tiny fork or toothpicks would show me that the owners and staff understand the concerns of people about a erving from a common dish with a fork that has been in one’s mouth previously. The staff was pleasant. When we were looking at the menu and asked about the fritters the server said “They’re my favorite“ which I always find not quite helpful since I don’t know the server’s tastes. When three of the four of us didn’t care for them because of the very strong fishy flavor, she agreed that they do taste fishy, information that would have been helpful earlier. Considering the owners’ other restaurants I was disappointed by this dining experience. I’m sure they’ll be fine without my patronage. Was...
