I had the absolute please of checking out this restaurant on a Friday evening. I discovered this place from a tik Tok video sent to me advising of must try places in Chattanoga TN.
This restaurant is located in Cambridge Square in Ooltewah, Tennessee. Davis Wayne’s has a prime location on a corner in the square.
I am not sure if the restaurant takes reservations, but we walked in and had no problem being seated within a few minutes. We were seated at a table next to the most lovely couple. We talked with them about he food. They raved about the chocolate covered strawberries and even had two sent to our table so we could try them. This is an example of the family like environment present at this restaurant! Not only are the staff a pleasure, but so are the patrons!
It appears that all staff do all jobs. While we did have a wait staff, everyone chipped in to help. If someone noticed that my glass was empty they filled it up! It was refreshing to see staff that actually take pride in what they do.
Regarding the food: I tried the wings with a side of Brussels sprouts and fried corn. My date had the salmon with Mac and cheese and potatoes and onions. All meals come with corn bread. The wings and salmon were amazing! I would order both again. My Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection, and they are my favorite side item. Overall I enjoyed my meal. Some things to note: they don’t deep fry any of the food, they also do not cook the vegetables in pork! This is a big deal for me since I am not a red meat eater.
Now let’s talk about those strawberries that a guest ordered for us! Oh my gosh- when I tell you it was the best chocolate covered strawberry I have ever tasted. The strawberry itself was so big and full of flavor. Adding the amazing chocolate to it only elevated the taste! You have to try these when you visit! They are dipped in house daily!
This was hands down one of the best dinning out experiences I have had in a long time. It was refreshing to walk into a restaurant and feel like you have known the staff for decades. Not only are they personable, but they also pride themselves on providing recommendable customer service.
I highly recommend checking this spot out if you are...
Read moreYou absolutely have to come check this unique gem out right here in Cambridge square Ooltewah, TN just off of old Lee hwy or hwy 75. Why is it a unique place you ask? The whole restaurant theme is surrounded by nothing but family and sitting down to eat a meal of good old soul food. The food is prepared simply with nothing but fresh ingredients no artificial ingredients here that's for sure. The sweet potato casserole is out of this world and could easily be your dessert. The marshmallows are put on top of the sweet potatoes and gently browned to perfection by a torch. If you are gluten intolerant here you go and most of the menu wide open to choose from. The name of the restaurant is after the two father's Davis and Wayne that incorporates the family style, Motown, and chic decor. The servers come around actually getting to know each of there customers just like sitting down for a family dinner together. As you are going through my pictures you will notice just a few of the family photos on the walls of the good times together solidifying the family atmosphere. The patio outside has comfy plush seating with ceiling fans for a nice breeze Caribbean style. I highly recommend this place and tell them shirley sent you. Enjoy !
10/10 stars from me....
Read moreIf there were six stars... I'd go there. Excellent southern soul food. And the staff...?... so dang nice. I walked in (first time) and saw a crowded restaurant bustling with folks, but in less that 15 seconds I was greeted and seated. I chose the bar—I like to sit at the bar to "see and feel" the action when I go to new spots. The action was in high gear and people were definitely busy, and everyone was friendly and kind and smiling (I think... masks...) but the vibe was fantastic. Service was on point and fast. Every person I came in contact with (including other patrons) were happy and smiling. The environment was comfortable. The staff that waited on me were 100% on point. The sweet tea was (Mom, close your ears) excellent. Southern through and through. Then came the food—dam...!... that was good. I seriously considered ordering some take out, but I decided I'd just come back and enjoy (and I do mean enjoy) another meal. One last thing... the man who delivered my plate to my seat was so kind... his smiling eyes said it all (again... masks...) and he was so nice, saying "hello", and "here ya' go" and all that... I really felt a great vibe of goodness and good people. I'll be back. Go if...
