I'm not sure where the other folks that reviewed First Watch have eaten breakfast in Chattanooga, or elsewhere for that matter but my wife and I had Sunday Brunch two weeks ago and were disappointed to the point I doubt we'll go back. Expectations were high given a few recommendations from co-workers. We were seated relatively quickly. The hostess was pleasant and efficient...free coffee service for folks waiting (nice). Our waitress showed up quickly too, we let her know it was our first time, she wasn't very proud of the place given her demeanor and suggestions (or lack of). My wife ordered an omelette, I went for the french toast & their fancy bacon, although I wanted a Belgian waffle, but saw one go by on a tray...they looked pretty much like regular waffles (not the big happy thick typical Belgian). I also ordered fresh squeezed orange juice. The orange juice was OK at best, given price I figured it would be sweet and fresh...kinda tasted half fresh squeezed/half reconstituted. Foreshadowing of the rest of the meal. Food came out pretty quickly for a busy Sunday morning. French Toast was tasted/looked like regular store-bought sliced wonder bread (not thick restaurant type) although the menu promised "thick-cut brioche" no syrup provided...ate half before I could flag a waitress down to bring me some syrup (which I learned I had to pay extra if I wanted maple syrup...WTF??? Really???). The bacon was good not great, cold and lots and lots of brown sugar on it which was a novelty I'd had before that really wasn't that special. My wife's eggs were flavorless and totally unimpressive. Maybe if we had a worthy waitress that would of guided us to better offerings, or at least warned about the syrup...we are not cheap, nor that picky really, but when we drop that much change for that uninspired of a breakfast I couldn't help but rear up and review this place. Our rule for eating out is that the restaurant either cooks it better than we can at home or cooks something that is so unique and complicated we wouldn't bother to try cooking it ourselves. Even my french toast on a hungover scrapped together old bread kinda Sunday morning puts their french toast to shame. Too bad, we work-out at OT next door and had been watching the place for a while, all the looking had our expectations too high...guess we'll give their lunch a try eventually, maybe....News flash! Manager tracked me down at OT left his card for me to call him, given that effort I've moved my stars to four and plan to go back for lunch, won't tell manager though 'cause it's not about...
Read more3rd Visit Arrived at 10 AM. Plenty of tables. Got a booth as requested. Both wife and I ordered from the "specials" menu. I substituted toast for the soft tacos which came standard with the dish, no charge for substitution. Main course was flavorful and large helping of grilled potatoes were cooked prefect. Coffee and refills tasted fresh. Waitress was attentive but not intrusive, perfect service. I will certainly eat hear again soon. Total including two coffees and tax about $ 30.
2nd Visit Bad Creamer & Smell, Good food and Service , pick your time Second visit, creamer spoiled, (see pics.) Told waitress & hostess who offered us a "To go Coffee" as compensation. Made wife and I sick on way home. Kids OK since they did not have coffee. Also strong smell of sewer gas in men's room which management is aware of. Food and service still good but taking one Star. Wife and I had breakfast on Wednesday at around 10. No crowds, maybe 10 percent of tables filled, so we had our choice of seating (had seen big crowds and a line outside Sunday morning around 11 AM), so pick your times. Benches, chairs, booths and tables to choose from. There were Cushions on bottom of seats so comfy for a long meal.
1st visit, Had lots of wait staff, some standing around so good service and food came quickly. Modern décor with high ceiling, a couple of hand painted murals on the wall (sense of Chattanooga). So great for visitors to the city. Coffee came in a carafe (plenty hot ) but nothing special taste wise and it had been sitting around for a while under a warmer, so slightly burnt taste. Considered sending it back.
Wife had a skillet dish which she said was very good.
I had the works Omelet. Now understand, I am very picky about my omelet, but the “Works Omelet” was the best restaurant Omelet I have had in years. Maybe 3 or more types of meat including spicy sausage which, if you enjoy spicy food, really set it off. All ingredients were sautéed beforehand (only way to cook an omelet in my opinion). Usual vegetables and cheese was well melted. The dish came with a thick slice of whole grain toast which probably came from a specialty bake shop and upscale fruit spread. All high quality. I was full all day long and I am a big eater, so smaller appetites should think about splitting this dish. I thing the Omelet and Toast was just under $ 12. Entire tab was just over $ 30 for the two of us, $ 36 with tip.
All around probably the best upper scale breakfast in...
Read moreFirst off don't go eat at this fascist restaurant. For I was sitting in my car enjoying my cigarette break before clocking into work listening to my music minding my own business mind you my car does not have any aftermarket stereo in it and is factory so it does not get above 60 db, then the manager came outside and proceeded to ask me in a very timid scary manner to turn my music down even though I was getting ready to go in and clock in mind you this is 10:00 a.m. so the noise ordinance doesn't count any more, but this is America and I thought this was the land of the free and for me to be able to listen to my music in the parking lot and enjoy my cigarette before clocking into work I should be able to do that as a red blood American! for you guys to come out there and harass me about my music is just ridiculous they don't do that in Texas and I was actually thinking about eating there soon don't think I will be anymore. You have guests to serve not worry about what im doing in my car! Get a life....and no it wasn't rap music it was Tori Amos TBH! Rant done! Go obstruct someone...
