Beautiful park nestled against the river! Great evening location for a after-dinner walk or just chillin. Might be a good place for an early romantic date walk! We were there in the evening and it was beautiful with the lights on the bridges. There was a concert across the river. The river itself was slowly meandering by. There's something peaceful about sitting on a bench and watching a river flow by. It's like life! You never know what you're going to see floating down the river. You never know what you're going to see floating through your life. (You can deposit a dollar in the box for that philosophical observation...) This would be a nice way to end the date night. Just have a wonderful dinner, some clumpies ice cream, and then a walk around the park. And for you old married folks like me still feels romantic to walk around holding hands! Well kept, lots of paths and sidewalks. Benches to sit on. The fountain area was turned off but I could tell it would be a lot of fun for kids on a hot day.

Coolidge Park was my first introduction to Chattanooga more than 10 years ago and revisiting it recently brought me the same joy - or maybe more as I was encouraged to see the city has maintained the best parts of the park. We enjoyed the carousel with its unique and whimsical characters. It blows my mind that the carousel still just costs $1 - best deal in the city!!Cheers to you, Chattanoogans, for beautifully maintaining this crown jewel of parks in soon-to-be Park City and keeping it family-friendly and affordable. We also loved the “splash pad” animal statue fountain feature. I noticed another family renting the pavilion for a 16th birthday party. Everywhere I looked there were happy families making lifetime memories. What a special place! Only growth opportunity I noticed was difficulty for several folks with strollers and/or ADA needs to get down the hill from the pedestrian bridge to the park without a paved ramp.

Love the park! It has a beautiful indoor antique carousel, which only cost $2/person to ride and had some very unique animals to choose from such as an ostrich, a fish, cat, dog, pig, et...). There is a water feature with large stone animals for kids to climb on, the water of course is not in use during the colder months when we went, but still makes for cute photos. The walnut Tsreet Footbridge goes over the river and has gorgeous views of the city and surroundings. There is alot of wide open space to run and play or have a picnic and a walkway all along the river. However, to my 7 yr old niece's chagrin there is NOT an actual playground. If you have small children bring toys: frisbees, balls, etc... or get creative and play tag like we did!

I give it a 4 for being a neat fountain. It is too bad the animal statues no longer shoot water, not that kids mind. There is space to sit and some partial shade. There are also small bathrooms in the carousel building to change into swim stuff. The carousel price is cheap but the machine is fussy with chip cards and when using cash spits out Suzanne B Anthony coins like at a laundry mat. I give it a 4 for small bathrooms, not enough shade, and feeling less safe due to homeless population using it to shower and then passing out on nearby benches. I did like the huge open green space. Would be a great place to throw Frisbee.

An epic waterfront park that is perfect for building those "old world American dream" memories that every person in the country will inevitably have, Coolidge Park is the place to be. Whether you're having a picnic with the family, throwing a football around fresh cut grass, playing on a splash-pad fountain, or enjoying a nice walk or swim; this location has it all, and all is enjoyable. Nearby you'd find Clumpie's Ice Cream, a gorgeous art museum a short walk across a walking bridge and live music from the locals. There's even a nice musical sculpture for the kids to bang on. Five stars all day.
