If you're visiting Chattanooga, a trip to the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center is a must. Conveniently located next to the Tennessee Aquarium, this state-of-the-art museum offers an experience like no other. With interactive touchscreens and multiple engaging movies, it's the most advanced museum I've visited in a long time.

Before my visit, I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t fully understand the significance of the Medal of Honor. However, this museum changed that completely. I now have a profound appreciation for the sacrifices made by these brave individuals, including one remarkable woman.

A standout moment for me was meeting Mr. Bob, one of the museum's knowledgeable staff members. I took his picture, which you can see in my photos. He did an excellent job describing astronaut Scobee's life and achievements, bringing the stories of various Medal of Honor recipients to life in a way I never expected. His passion and detailed storytelling made the experience incredibly impactful.

As a regular person, I didn't anticipate being so moved by a museum visit. But this one changed my heart and deepened my appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy. The Medal of Honor recipients are not just heroes for doing their job; they went above and beyond the call of duty.

I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this museum. Bring your dad, your children—everyone should see it. At half the price of the aquarium, it offers an experience that might just change your life as...

Located downtown near the aquarium. Parking in a garage will save you money. $12 max whereas other public parking is $11 an hr. Depending which garage you park you can catch the free shuttle to certain locations. We were able to park in the garage within 10 mins or less and walk to the museum. After our museum visit we took the shuttle to Choo Choo and then on the opposite side over the bridge near Coolidge Park. The information center right next to the museum was very helpful with our plans and with maneuvering downtown which isn’t that big. This museum is clean, well organized with great staff and information. What made this museum different from other military museums is the focus on the medals which I learned about while visiting here and the local heroes. Terry Johnson was great! He’s very knowledgeable and passionate about the history insomuch so he found us outside of the museum to answer a question he didn’t have an answer to at the time we asked.☺️ We felt valued. They offer military discount w/ proof which is great. I believe children 3 and younger are free. Not sure that children would get anything out of it. Plenty of places to eat. Walking distance to riverfront if you want to picnic. Other things to do. Make a whole...

The National Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga is a must-visit for anyone interested in military history. While it’s not as large as some other military-focused museums, it offers fascinating artifacts and well-done displays that highlight the incredible stories of Medal of Honor recipients. The exhibits are informative and provide great insight into the bravery and sacrifices of these heroes.

The museum is conveniently located just steps away from the Chattanooga Aquarium, making it a perfect companion stop if you’re visiting the area. Despite its compact size, the museum is thoughtfully curated and offers a unique perspective on military history that’s both inspiring and educational.

The only downsides were the pricey admission for the number of exhibits and the expensive parking in nearby paid lots. The area can also be quite congested due to its central location, so plan accordingly.

Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re a history enthusiast. The stories shared here are powerful and a reminder of the extraordinary courage of those who have served our country. Highly recommend adding it to your...

A GEM hiding in plain sight! DO NOT MISS THIS! We went in for the coffee bar and spent the next 90-minutes enthralled with the Heritage Center. It's not a "museum" so much as it's an interactive education, appropriate for all ages, with a focus on these men (and one woman) for their actions. The gallery space is outstanding and can be perused at your own pace, but once you view the short movie and enter the main gallery you'll be captivated. The exhibits are vibrant and engaging. The stories make you both proud and emotional as you learn about self-sacrifices made in moments of extreme danger to save lives. The Heritage Center brilliantly lays the foundation for understanding how the Medal of Honor came about, what it stands for, and that ordinary people - with a deep love of country and a desire to do what is right - can do extraordinary things with bravery, courage, sacrifice, and integrity. (And the coffee was top-notch!)

Wonderful experience. Perfect exhibit for Patriots of all ages. I took a 1 & 9 year old- all had a wonderful time. ‘Full scale models of heroes, authentic memorabilia / MOHs, fun kid’s scavenger hunt, insightful mini-films & interviews throughout the museum. The greatest highlight was a volunteer & Navy Veteran named Terry who was very kind and informative. My rising 4th grader made a point to tell me “everyone needs to know about this” & “we have to go back and learn more”. Thank you everyone involved in making this Museum a reality! This is a must-visit spot in Chattanooga, TN! Tips: Bathroom is on the first floor as is the gift shop, if you have kids ask about the scavenger hunt, ‘park in the Pucketts restaurant parking lot for convenience (pay-to-park but well worth it)- it’s RIGHT BESIDE the Tennessee Aquarium (so if you are already planning to visit the aquarium, it’s an easy to walk from one to the other)
