Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Chattanooga

As a new mom who has to rely on food deliveries, I am very annoyed to have to write this review, I’d rather be enjoying my food instead. However, as I sit here, stomach growling, I see no other way to handle this situation. I went online to Jim and Nick’s to order food. Upon entering the website, I was given the option of Pick-Up or Delivery.

I chose delivery, entered my address, and was provided with a location close to me to order from.

So, I ordered. After making the payment, I received a confirmation screen telling me that my order would be ready for pickup at 1:11PM. This prompted me to immediately call the location to cancel the order as to not inconvenience the store, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to pick it up at this time.

After speaking to the person who answered the phone and explaining the situation, I was transferred to a manager.

I explained the situation to the manager who intraday of seeking a solution, told me to contact “them” instead. When I asked who “them” was, he mentioned DoorDash, however, I had already explained to him that the order was placed from their website and not through a third party. Instead of finding a solution, he continued to explain to me that in this case I should check my email or text for an order confirmation which is where I should go to cancel the order.

So, I checked my email and explained to him that there was no option to do so and that the number provided for order issues is the same number I called which led me to him.

After huffing and puffing to express his frustration he “kindly” asked to place me on a hold.

After 12 minutes he returned and explained to me the same thing that he did right before the 12 minute hold, which was to cancel the order via the email. I explained to him once more that this is not an option, and if I couldn’t cancel with the manager at the restaurant that I ordered with, then how else was I to cancel it?

He basically expressed that these were the steps provided to him back when the system was set in place and that others some how were able to do it in the past, insinuating that somehow I’m to blame that the order can’t be cancelled.

I realized that he was not willing to put in any effort to resolve my issue. His main concern was getting me off the phone and getting on with his work shift.

As I sit here typing, and holding my son, I guess I have accepted that not only have I lost my money, but I’m probably going to be hungry until my husband makes it home.

Let's start by saying I know everything has gone UP in pricing, but it's not right when you go UP $ and Portions go DOWN. It's become too common. I gave a 3 Star for the Brisquit and Cheese Bisquits! Yummy! Those 2 items were yum. Chicken is VERY dry and pulled pork taste like everyone else's. Nothing special there. But they'd had gotten a 5star if it weren't for the "Portions Vs Pricing" We purchased *3 of "The Gathering" meal's for our 4th of July gathering of 18 people. 3 of them!! Spent over $200 because we ordered enough to feed 18people,,, OR SO WE THOUGHT! I was absolutely LIVID that I had to call ANOTHER BBQ Place closer to home (Jim & Nicks is 35miles from us) but I had to order ANOTHER BBQ meal from Logan's to insure we'd have enough because when Hubby got back w/the meal from J&N it was obvious it wasn't going to be enough! We weighed all 3 wrapped meats and it was just @ 7.1 They said we got Xtra lb unless our weight scale is off because for 18 people you're supposed to get 6lbs of meat. Try telling that to some teen eaters and Big folk's 🤣 Anyhow this Meal was Just enough to feed 12 people. 1 1/4 sz sandwiches EACH. According to Patrick who I spoke to The meal is supposed to feed 1 1/4 sz sandwich per person 😳 W/*1 tbl spoon Each of 3 side's. And *1 VERY small cheese biscuit. You'll see pic MY plate in a min. I got enough Brisquit for 3 1/2 bites.(I got xtra PS because I didn't get any M&C) and the Deviled Egg I made at home. I didn't even get Mac and cheese cause there's only enough for 3 people. We'll NEVER do business again w/a company that left us "High & Dry" and having to call on ANOTHER restaurant to insure WE HAD ENOUGH FOOD for our "Gathering of 18 " I feel like they need to tell you that "The Gathering meal" you only get ONE, *1 , UNO 1/4 SANDWICH PER PERSON ! I went there on my 31st anniversary which was Valentine's Day 2022. I spoke to the manager on the phone who basically was telling me there was going to be a probable delay because my party of 11 people would arrive during the start of the dinner rush. Well, something happened and I was about 30 minutes late so it was even more into the dinner rush. The hostess, who is also our waitress, (because they were short-staffed) told us when we arrived it would be about 20 minutes oh, I was fine with that because I had such a good experience the year earlier on my anniversary. I sort of flippantly said well that was a fast 20 minutes I appreciate that getting us in here early. And the hostess who was also our waitress said quote" well we close in an hour so the sooner we can get you in the sooner we can" and then she stopped because I think she realized what she was saying. I I think some of these restaurants forget the fact that you are trading money for their service at their restaurant but you show up with nothing and need everything. I felt like I was a bother there and my party was a bother to them. I do not know if I will ever return. The food was good but with an attitude that you are putting them out or they are put out to take care of a party of 11 in a restaurant that was only about a third full was a little more than I'm willing to go through again. So in all honesty I doubt I will ever return there. This is Chattanooga there is literally thousands of restaurants I chose to go to Jim & Nicks I do not believe I will choose...
