Stolen vehicle, roaches, and fire alarms.
I don’t even know where to begin. My family and I were driving through Chattanooga and decided to stop for the night to rest. Upon waking up the next morning our car was gone. Stolen right out of the parking lot the closest spot to the front of the hotel. You could see it from the lobby! Circled in yellow in the photo attached is where our car was parked. Upon reviewing the camera footage the manager informed my husband that it was stolen in less than 60 seconds.
This was extremely jarring traveling with two toddlers and waking up in the morning to our vehicle and possessions inside just being GONE. Not completely the hotels fault, just once again unfathomable considering how busy the entire area is.
We’re states away from home no with no car seats for our children so we’re stuck for at least one more day. While my husband is out getting car seats I’m in the room with my kids fast asleep around 9:30PM when the fire alarm goes off in the building. I rush out of the room with my small children in tow only having time to grab my purse. I carry both 20lb plus children down FIVE flights of stairs where the stairwell spills us to the outside terrace into RAIN. Fortunately it was a false alarm according to the staff and we were able to wait in the lobby until they were able to turn off the blaring alarms after about five minutes. I have to get a new key card because I wasn’t able to grab one in my hurry to evacuate my small children. I can’t imagine if there were an actual fire and I’d be stuck outside in the freezing cold rain with two small children and no car for us to seek shelter in.
We head back upstairs and I do my best to get my children back to sleep and my husband returns. Around 11PM as soon as we shut our eyes to go to sleep the alarm goes off AGAIN. My husband rushes down to see if it’s another false alarm, which it was. That didn’t stop it from once again waking up both of my children now for a second time in one night. There was a “sorry false alarm” from the staff once again and that was it.
The next morning the staff refused to comp us for the previous night. Which we don’t fight. They extend our checkout until 4PM as we are still working on securing a rental car. While my children are sleeping around 1PM I get a call from the front desk and them asking if we could switch rooms at 2PM because they have a guest that specifically requested the room we were in and they needed time to clean it. The manager didn’t call me directly and instead had the front desk person Ariel do it. I just could not believe that after having our vehicle stolen in their parking lot and being woken up TWICE in the night for false alarms that they would even have the nerve to ask us to switch rooms last minute with our two small children.
At this point my husband went and spoke to the operations manager Christina in person about the situation. She offered to comp us for HALF of our second night. In the end we were comped for our full second nights stay(which wouldn’t even have been necessary if not for the car theft) and checked out at 4PM.
AH! And the roach. The morning of discovering our car was missing our son spotted “a bug” in the window seal. It was a dead roach about an inch long. In the midst of the chaos I did not have time to take a photo(which I REALLY regret). Just the roach on top of our horrendous stay at Aloft Chattanooga Hamilton Place. I’d give half a star if possible only because the front desk lady Ariel was very kind...
Read moreThe hotel was nice but I was disturbed by the manager Christy banging on the door at around 845-9 waking me up about something I had already turned in at check-in. She was super rude. I got up went down and got it and still she was being smart I asked for her manager information and I returned back to room. After I called and emailed the General manager 5 minutes later I get a call.Saying I'm going to have to leave at 12. I said why now the sudden change when I requested late check out last night. The other rep said because ma'am we just don't have enough rooms. But keep in mind I was just at the counter and the lady said ma'am could you hold please while I take this call first? I said yes ma'am. The caller was asking about something I don't know but I also here caller asked to be checked out later. And she said the latest you can check out is 12:30. But she tell me I had to leave after I was told a whole day because that phone call that I could check out at 1 the next day. Long story short after asking for General manager information I was asked to leave. Not only that when I went down to check out. I asked the manager why couldn't I do a late check out and she said I didn't Qualify . I said but I asked last night and they told me I could. She said she don't know. Not only that as I was there respectfully trying to get a understanding this lady Christy tells me "you drama ain't nobody trying to hear that today" SO I asked her why would you say that do you think that was professional and she still got smart and said do you think what you doing is professional? I've been calling and emailing general manager for 3 days and still no one have returned my calls. This was really Disturbing considering my sleep was broken and I had to get on the road for a 7 hour drive. And this harassment and disrespect all came from management.
It's now been exactly a week later and no one have answered or returned my calls or emails. It's clearly they don't care and it's OK with them that they employees disturb your rest, rude and harrass. I'll try to reach Corporate office and see if they can at least make sure no one else have to experience this type...
Read moreMost unclean hotel I've ever been in. There were crumbs on the floor when I got in, all the bedding and towels have random hairs in them. Room service only comes by every other day according to the front desk. They came by today and just made the bed. As a test to the cleanliness of a hotel, I'll leave little things around that aren't inconvenient just to see. Nothing in this room has been moved besides the comforter and pillows, and the thermostat (which they turned up to 75). They didn't even change the sheets. They're the same, and I know they're the same because there's a rip on the side I've been sleeping on and it's still there. The room is also laughably tiny. For what I'm paying for this place, I think I'd have gotten a better value at the nearest Red Roof Inn. The walls are paper thin. Any conversation had in the hall or adjacent rooms sounds like they're hanging out in my shower. The location is also so, so bad. It's so awkwardly placed, just in the middle of a mall parking lot? I took a chance on this place because of the mixed reviews, but I'm wondering if all the people rating this place positively have booked a more expensive room somehow. I only saw one rate. Maybe I misread. If my job wasn't paying me to stay here, I'd just sleep in my car in a Walmart parking lot.
Edit: When I checked in, I had to present ID and tax exemption form to get the rate I did. The lady took both and would not tell me my total, saying I'd see it reflected in my bank statement and would get an email later. Well, I got the email overnight and was charged $20.18 a day in taxes. That's approaching $100 extra that I got charged for a room full of pubes and crumbs. I was told I needed to speak to a manager, but thx lady at the desk wouldn't say when that manager would be in. That's my per diem every single day of my stay eaten up in taxes I shouldn't have to pay. Literally train your people, housekeeping and front desk alike. This is...
