This is were my BF and a couple friends of ours (another couple) choose to eat our Christmas dinner at. First of all we called to make sure they were open and the owner said yes she would meet us there. so when we pulled up there was another customer getting their food and then a older gentleman approached the car and proceeded to tell us that the plates were $20 each and they only had the chicken and stuffing dinners left. I asked why the price was $20 when online it clearly said It was $15 a plate. He shook his head and said the price again.. well whatever I said and we ordered four dinners. my BF asked for a veggie plate/ all sides plate instead, bc he wasn't eating meat and they gentle man tried to say ok it's will be $5 a side , I said that's not fair why can't he just exchange the chicken in stuffing for a veggie side and then get the rest of the dinner plate as everyone else, oh yeah and the choices of sides was also limited to, stuffing, cabbage, Mac n cheese, greens and a roll. so anyways we paid our bills and we waited and waited and waited forever it felt like. it was every but if 45 minutes before the gentleman came back to the car with our food so we all took out "plates añd opened them up.. Now let me mention that I had my hopes up pretty high considering that everybody kept going on and on and on about Good Old Southern soul food, so I was really excited, bc who doesn't love some soul food!!! Well, two thumbs way down and a ruined first impression of Southern Soul food. SMH. First of all the serving size was actually not bad for the $20 in terms of total weight of the plate, but the food was bland to say the least. My food was cold as if it had just been removed from the refrigerator, like it was someone's leftover Christmas dinner boxed up. They only thing not cold was the room temperature Mac and cheese which was worst than boxed Mac n cheese, surely this wasn't something someone had made with love. it was tasteless. Thhe chicken and stuffing was nothing but the bottom of the pan soup with very little shredded chicken, alot of bones and some overcooked bag/box stuffing. There were no mashed potatoes, so I opted for yams which tasted like someone opened a can , threw a little butter, some brown sugar and some maple syrup and threw them in our Togo plates. I was highly disappointed with the cost, the temperature of the food (after waiting forever), and the taste, the worst soul food I've ever had. At first my friends were trying to point out the positives to the food until they just couldn't see any actual value to the dinner and In the end agreed that We had been given a" lump of coal" for our Christmas dinner. I reached out to the owner and requested my money back and never heard a single word back. Sorry but this food truck has ruined my idea of Southern soul food forever now. I'll just stick to my Northern soul food from now on.
highly disappointed...
Read moreMama Yo’s was incredible! 5/5 all around—food and service both amazing. We came on thanksgiving around 3:30, and they stayed open for us after we called them earlier that day. Ra Ra and Mama Yo were incredibly kind and welcoming…felt like family away from home on thanksgiving! And the food… oh my god it was so good. I got the smoked chicken and dressing plate, which came with a roll and cranberry jelly with 2 sides, I got the Mac and cheese and turnip greens. The chicken was sooo tender and was falling off the bone. The gravy was probably the best gravy I’ve ever had. Everything was seasoned well and so flavorful. My fiancé had the pulled pork plate, and he had the baked beans and turnip greens on the side. Those were some of the best beans we’ve ever had and I didn’t even get a chance to try the pork because he ate it so fast 😂 The portions were very generous as well. Seriously, if you’re looking for delicious home cooking from two lovely people, you need to go here! Will not disappoint and I will absolutely be back here the next time I’m...
Read moreI do not recommend her to book for a venue or event because she WILL NOT SHOW UP. I posted on Facebook asking to see if a food truck would come out for an event my school hosted and she responded eager to come. But then we were canceled on the day of in a rude tone over the phone because she was too busy, and proceeded to hang up on me. We ended up having to order over 10 pizzas out of pocket for a school sponsored event. The next day I reached out to her to thank her for working with us even though she cancelled, and I didn’t even get an apology or any response back. Very disrespectful and unprofessional for a self-employment business. Hope you guys can find better. Sucks being nice to people like this to get nothing but...
