First of all, IT'S CLEAN!!!!! We are here from out of town and had 2 bad dining experiences and hoped this wouldn't be a third. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! When the staff member noticed we were struggling with the menu, he asked if we'd been there before and stepped out from behind the register to coach us through the process of ordering! He answered our questions without appearing annoyed even when I made a slight change to our side dishes! We got our drinks, THE KETTLE BREWED TEA AND SUNRISE(or sunshine/I forgot) LEMONADE! DELICIOUS! When our food came, the meats were excellent (brisket, pulled pork, babyback ribs! The mac n cheese was good, my husband liked the cole slaw and the kickin collards (unique preparation but good). The cornbread was again, unique but tasty. I prefer a little crispier outer crumb (cast iron style) but it was still good. We had ordered peach cobbler and while I prefer a buttery, flaky pie crust style cobbler, theirs was the first (of its kind) that had the right balance of flavors so that my husband and I both enjoyed it. Then we were given two additional servings of it as it is customary for first timers. Wished I had know that before buying one but free seconds... why not? The only disappointment was the baked beans. They seemed to have a little too much chili powder and tasted more like chili than baked beans. I love chili but neither one of us liked this interpretation of baked beans. That being said, my husband finished eating and I hear him carrying on a conversation with one of the gentlemen on staff. They were laughing and talking like old friends... We loved this place. We'll be back in Chattanooga this weekend with our church family and look forward to patronizing this place again! Gotta try something else on the menu! The tribute to our veterans is admirable (as I have read about it online). I didn't get a chance to really engage in all the pix and decor but can't wait to look thoroughly next week. If you get the brisket, go with the fatty cuts and not the lean. It was really good but if the lean was good, I imagine the fatty cuts are more juicy and even better... stay tuned. I will follow up on this after our church trip!...
Read moreWe are generally big Mission fans in my house. Service is usually impeccable and the food is great quality. Plus, I have celiac disease and am always thrilled when companies have fries that are safe for me. I worked in the food service industry for many years and tend to have a lot of grace for mishaps during any meal, despite having a severe reaction to gluten. My family actually drives about 45 minutes to the Chattanooga location because we prefer everything about Mission to our local alternatives. Tonight we went into the Chattanooga location and I began my order as I usually do, that I have a severe gluten allergy. The cashier was so kind and reassured me that it would be no problem and then called back to the cook whose name was “English” that there would be a gluten allergy on this ticket. The cook proceeded to throw her head back, toss whatever was in her hands and groan loudly. It’s an open kitchen. I was standing not even 20 feet in front of her and manager was right next to her and never addressed it. My better judgement would’ve been to cancel my order and leave, but we didn’t. And we ate. It typically takes me a few hours to react if I get sick, but I was SO embarrassed and felt guilty for making her do more work just for me. I’m sure it was a long day. I get it. But I was so looking forward to a quality safe meal. The food tasted great as usual, but the mood was less than...
Read moreMy co-workers and I decided to stop in for a birthday lunch for one of our team members today. We found the store exceptionally clean, and their crew and management were world class. They were happy to allow us to sample anything on their menu before making our purchase. It's clear that they make it a priority to ensure their customers actually enjoy the food they subsequently order.
Once our meals were served, we were able to choose from their wide selection of sauces to fully customize our BBQ experience. From spicy Baja to Georgia Mustard and more classic style sauces in between, Mission has a sauce for almost every taste.
After singing happy birthday to our team member at the beginning of the meal, we were treated by the manager to brownies and their signature cobbler for our entire group at the meal's completion. This gesture was completely unprovoked and greatly appreciated. Mission's staff had even caught our team member's name during the song and wrote a personalized "Happy Birthday!" note on the tray of desserts they brought her. The brownies were the perfect consistency, and the cobbler was exceptional.
Our office has catered two or three times from this location over the past year, and they have always went above and beyond. But after this experience, we will definitely be continuing to support Mission BBQ as often and in...
