A quick edit: Chris, from the Tap House wrote one of the best responses to my review I have ever seen. He was not defensive. I added a star. Cold and a bit depressing inside with a server who is not knowledgeable about the beers. Why three stars? 1. I’m sure this place is packed and lively in the evening, but I came in on Friday around 1 PM, and it was really empty and cold. I know that this is an older building with high ceilings and glass windows, but it was freezing. I probably should’ve just left, but I thought once I had a beer and some food in me, I would warm up. I did not. It was really chilly the entire time. 2. I will say my server was initially attentive. She was very nice. But it was only me and two other tables…the entire time. And she just didn’t appear again except to bring the food. The place had only three seated tables out of several, and two people working, thus, the server should’ve been much more present. (See the photo I took of no one behind the bar). Later, I saw the two servers way off to the side, talking to each other, behind the bar. But if you’re looking to catch a server’s eye to refill water or anything else, it’s really awkward when you have to go up and start looking around for her. At a minimum, I should not have to be flagging her down, very, very minimum she should at least be visible somewhere in the restaurant so that if I do have to walk around, I can find her. She asked me what I wanted to drink, and then disappeared, did not offer much advice on the beer at all, even though I told her I was from Asheville (a big beer town) and I asked if she had any High gravity, and she said,“just scan the QR code.” I told her what type of beer I liked, and I asked for suggestions, and again she said, “Scan it and you’ll see a list.” She wasn’t offering any advice on any beers and I found it really unusual in a bar that is so beer focused…And so empty. It’s not as if she had to rush off to a bunch of other tables. I really expect my bartenders/servers (at a place known for beers) to say “this has some undertones of this” or “this one’s a little grassy“ or “this is a nice hoppy IPA, but it’s a bit cloudy.“ But she wanted me to do my own research and just told me to scan the QR code. Again, with no one here, she could’ve walked me through some of the beers. Since I did not have any recommendations, I thought I would have a flight, and even then, when I was saying, “what about this one?” she told me to write down the numbers. Maybe I’m spoiled from living in Asheville, but I am really accustomed to the bartenders telling me the details about the beers when I ask a question. And this is a place that… does… Beers. I just really expected to have a conversation about it, and that’s one of the reasons I came in. The server seem to know absolutely nothing about the offerings. 3. Terrible Wi-Fi. It is free Wi-Fi, but the entire time I had less than one bar. It made it tricky, because I needed to contact a couple of people and get a few things done, but it was really really bad Wi-Fi. I know this is not a business or a café or people that come to get the work done, but hopefully with the Wi-Fi you should have at least two bars. 4. Food. Here is the real reason for three stars. I really did not enjoy the food. I would never give a three star review to a place just because the Wi-Fi was spotty and it was cold. Or even if the server was not knowledgeable. But the food was really disappointing. I ordered the boneless wings, and the barbecue sauce that covered them seemed rather generic, and they felt a bit soggy and they were cold! The blue cheese was runny and not chunky and they were $20! For a pound basket. I ordered a pound so I could have some to take home. And I really wish I had only ordered a half a pound. They just weren’t good. I’ve had boneless wings all over the place, and these tasted like something that you would get that were frozen and then thawed out and just slathered in some sauce. The sauce was too heavy, the wings were not crispy and good. The sauce weighed them down.

The Tap House is in a rustic restored building in St. Elmo. It was just minutes from our hotel. We entered after trying to negotiate the paid parking lot and learned that they validate. James, the beertender was very kind and helped me get my parking taken care of and then had suggestions for a beer I had never heard of. It was wonderful. We opted for the daily special which was a Comfort Burger. It was very tasty and well prepared and served in a flash. Maddie, our server was quite sweet and checked on us just enough and not too much. She didn't hover, but was personable and attentive. We were there at an off time but quite a few people came in while we were there. Several looked like regular patrons of the establishment. I saw several items on the menu that I would like to try. I would definitely go there again and have another Foghorn Beer.

If you can find the bar the atmosphere at this place is fantastic! The building is beautiful with the brick, original floors and doors, Edison bulbs, cozy couches, and even the bar top is unique! However, it's located in a building with several other businesses and the only sign is a relatively small one on one corner of the building. The sign for the yoga studio was bigger. The beers on tap include a good variety from what I could see. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but they also had two ciders on tap, including Strongbow, which you rarely see. Food section is limited and appetizers were as pricey as the sandwiches. Parking is terrible! There is one lot for tenants and customers of the entire building that fits about 20 cars and only has one small entrance/exit. There are other businesses around that you can park at after hours, but not sure how they'd feel during business hours. There is some street parking and a Food City across a major street that has a big lot. Overall a good place for beer. Not a foodie paradise.

I went to this restaurant and ordered their burger with potato wedges. The burger wasn't a meal somthe wedges and drink had to be ordered separately- I found that weird. I asked for the burger to be medium well. The food came quickly. The wedges I dipped in honey mustard sauce (which was an extra fee to which I wasn't notified of when I was ordering), they were really good though. The burger reminded me of school burgers that they already have prepared in the hot water bath until they serve you. It didn't have a freshly grilled or just made burger taste. I didn't care for the taste and texture of the burger. I was a little nauseated after a few bites of the burger. Just the taste of it. The sweet tea was really good and I didn't know it until I left but the receipt said you get free refills. The restaurant was clean. Seating available outside too and it was covered seating. There was a gravel lot where merchants were selling hand made items and a band was playing outside.

The restaurant had plenty of available seating and there was no wait. I was sat at a dirty table and to top it off next fly trap at an emergency exit only door…. No traffic through the door. Our server who never stated her name messed up the drink order and was reminded twice to get a sprite for one of the kids in which she acted like was a inconvenience to her and just proceeded to wonder around wiping tables when there was no one waiting. We were never told about a 40 minute wait on our food. Food was good was but the service so bad it’s not worth going back. I’m sorry you feel the need to ask customers how to run your establishment, And you may be understaffed due to your inability to run a restaurant. As far as communicating with management about it, We had two children with us and wasn’t going to make them any more uncomfortable than you and your staff already had and we went on to enjoy your day. I’m not in the restaurant biz but hope you get that worked out. Cheers…Chris

Great place to grab a burger and a brew! It had been a while since we last came here, so we decided to check them out for Chattanooga Burger Week, and we are glad we did. We each had the featured burger, "The Tipsy Tapster." Wow! It was delicious! The kitchen was quick, and the food was hot. The beers were tasty, just right to pair with the burger. But the MAIN reason I'm giving this five stars is because the staff there was excellent!!! We never felt as though we were ignored OR bothered. Plates were removed quickly, and each staff member we interacted with made us feel so welcome as if we were their friends and they cared about us. That's a difficult thing to accomplish in one staff member, but in all of them, it's amazing! Stop by and check them out; you'll be glad you did.
