Canela Mexican Cafe — Restaurant in Cherry Hill Township

I have ordered from this place multiple times. I should’ve stopped after the first time but, it’s close to my house and I kept hoping it would get better. So that’s my fault. First of all the food is mediocre at best. Second the prices are astronomical. Third, they ALWAYS mess up the order. I always pick my food up bc I could throw a rock and hit it. Last time I ordered I asked for delivery bc I couldn’t leave my house, and they said it was only 20 min. I WAITED 98 minutes. They kept telling me it was on the way, then after an hour just stopped answering. I was walking out of my house to drive to another place to order food and the owner was in my driveway with the food (which was cold and disgusting btw). He apologized and said it was a busy time, and that the next order I made he’d “take care of me and give me my order for free” mind you I spent 60$. I said ok I understand, and thanked him. I went to order there today due to time constraints ( bc honestly their food isn’t that great), and I was told that the owner said he would give me 2$ off my order. I actually only ordered 20$ worth of food bc I didn’t want to take advantage. I was told my order of 60$ would be free and they offered me 2 dollars. I’m SHOCKED this place is still in business, my guess is it only is bc of people like me, who want tacos and it’s close. But seriously? Anyway this place is terrible. Over priced and not even...

WORST SERVICE! I have given this place a chance time & time again thinking our service would be better. Nope! Still rude, slow younger gentleman by the name of Ronaldo C. He has gotten my order wrong numerous times & this is the the final straw for my husband & I. He hands us chips, but not our waters. We ask for the water again & he doesn't give them until ANOTHER 10 minutes passes by after already being there for 15 mins. He walks really fast by Canela's patrons for someone who is not in a hurry to get food or take anyone's order correctly. I asked for green chicken enchiladas & a carne asada Mexican taco. Carne asada being like a typical Mexican steak street taco. He brings our food & hands me a carne asada plate WITH shrimp and no enchiladas in sight. If I'm going in person, & you see my face & what I say, don't you think a server would LISTEN & even REPEAT what they wrote down?! He has a blank empty stare in his eyes and can barely speak up.

REGRETTABLE service & not worth the food! You are better off going to Luna y Sol! Cheaper, better service, & amazing atmosphere.

Update: be sure you are clear with your order & verify before you pay. The past two visits I've gotten my order wrong. When I order tacos, I strictly ask for JUST onion & cilantro on them. Both times, I've received tacos with everything BUT those two...

I have never had a bad meal at Canela - actually, the food is really good. Their fried fish tacos, nachos and burritos are all ✨ chefs kiss ✨. My only complaint is the wait time and disregard for customer’s time. I ordered take out over the weekend and was told my food would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I arrived 20 mins later, food was still not ready - I was told to wait 10 more minutes, and this kept happening until it was almost an hour after I had placed my initial order. I wouldn’t have been upset had they just communicated that there would be delay but it was especially frustrating because I had my young family waiting the entire time in my vehicle. Additionally the staff were just giggling and hiding out in the kitchen and when they did come to the front actively avoided engaging (ie pretending not to hear when being spoken to - had to excuse me many times while looking right at each other). But again - no bad meals - they are often delayed but never this bad. I will give them another shot because they do make some of the best Mexican food in that particular area and the portions...
