Was anxious to visit the newly opened Roy Rogers in Cherry Hill to take a time trip to the 70's and '80's. It's true you can't go back home again. Visited on July 4th for dinner thinking most people may be doing holiday things and not going to Roy's. Wrong. The drive-in line was long and honestly, dangerous, the way people stick out onto the shoulder. You couldn't even get in to park for eat-in service. We parked in a lot next door. And walked over.
Inside line was long-ish...stretched to the entry way doors and then wrapped a little around where tables were. Waiting about 20 mins. in line and about 10 mins for our food to be prepared, so not as bad as most reviews state.
First off, yes, they are expensive. Be prepared to pay well over $10 for a combo meal. Customer service was lackluster. We ordered 2 Roast Beef combos (large), and one Cheeseburger and a drink and a Double-R Burger to take home (my favorite in the past!).
Roast beef sandwich was very small,, surprisingly so. But the beef was good albeit a little stringy in some spots. Roll was okay but would have been better if they buttered and toasted them. Fries were a big disappointment. Cold and limp fries. I don't understand how when they were very busy and should have been dropping fresh fries in the vats every couple minutes.
Cheeseburger, okay. Nothing special and small, too. A very upsetting issue was that the store was not clean. Debris on the counter floor/kitchen floor and no one was wiping tables as they cleared. No one was sweeping and especially, no one was attending to and refilling the fixins bar. We had to scrounge for a few pickles left and some lackluster bottom of the barrel fixins The whole bar needed to be cleaned and wiped down. Having one dedicated person to handle all the dining room cleanliness, sweep floors and make the fixin bar appealing and immaculate will go a long way.
Haven't had the Double-R burger yet but they were my favorite and hope to not be disappointed. Would we go back? Perhaps and only because good friends of ours used to go there on many high school dates and they would like to share in the nostalgia.
But before going back, they need to tighten up and manage the restaurant better with staff fully trained and understanding of their core duties. Counter workers, smile and say "Welcome to Roy Roger's", etc. Perhaps in the coming months, things will improve. The menu and food has always been different and appealing in the past. I know it can get there again. (Although portion sizes are not this store's fault;...
Read moreHonestly if I could give 0 stars I would. I’m not even sure where to start. It took an hour and a half exactly for eight cars to move through the drive-through line then you get up to the menu and half the items are not able to be ordered. You can’t pay extra for all white meat even though it says that you can in letters on the menu, you can’t get an extra crispy and I said before half the menu items they don’t have. I spoke to a manager and his exact words were “it’s not fair for others ordering if we give you all white meat” …. I’m left speechless as I am paying extra for it…. The staff is incompetent, rude, definitely not following guidelines for handwashing and things like that. The woman handed me my bag of food, as I watched her use a mop, and the man making our cheeseburgers that you can see through the windows, kept touching his glasses, earbuds, his face, and other items And then continued making cheeseburgers and fried chicken. The staff is walking around aimlessly and acting immature throwing around and slapping bags of cheese as the manager is telling them to cut it out, but the manager looks like it’s just a kid too. All in front of customers and the food isn’t even hot after waiting an hour and a half you can’t even get hot french fries hot chicken nothing. I don’t understand how they have all the staff members and they can’t handle moving a drive-through line faster. The biscuits and mashed potatoes have no flavor and are cheaply made. I think Roy Rogers is extremely overpriced for the quality. We ordered a large mashed potato when it was half filled. When we got our food, they just kept slamming the sliding door in our face, and we had to keep looking in the bag knocking on the window because they kept forgetting items that we previously had ordered no one greeted us not high. Welcome to Roy Rogers. Have a good day. Nothing extremely unacceptable and the staff is extremely incompetent. After seeing how food is handled, I wouldn’t suggest eating there. This place won’t last more than six months if you’re lucky and the parking lot is a nightmare. If they knew how to do business they would do it like seven brew in Chick-fil-A and have people standing outside taking orders and get a real manager who can handle the employees and move a drive-through line with a cars in it so we don’t have to wait an hour and a half just to...
Read moreAfter hearing about a new food place opening up, we love checking it out. My husband and I grew up eating at Roy Rogers back in the day and we were excited to check out to see if it's somewhat the same. It's not. Now let me explain each reason why placing your restaurant so low. While traveling to the drive thru you definitely have to wait which is no stress. A young lady gave us a meal to check out while waiting to place our order. For my husband has a health intercalation with salt, so we look at what was good for him. With the food, we got the #1 burger with fries and soda. (Burger was like something I got in middle school when the cafeteria aid didn't care to get the real thing..bummer) My husband got the large roast beef sandwich with fries and soda. (Positive feedback on that from him. He said it was better than Arby's) Now for the service (drive thru) I'm guessing you don't have a monitor by the window because they ask for the receipt and when we were waiting for no salt fries 🍟 they gave us one drink when the receipt said two. They definitely need to get a monitor to let them know what they need and what comes with what customer. Now the atmosphere in (drive thru) the girl in the window was I'm guessing "new" eating and playing on her phone where the customers can see. If it wasn't for the girl that took the "new" girl's place...I would of just gave you one star for atmosphere. There is no urgency or apology for the wait. Now at home and completely done eating, we are in in conclusion that you all will definitely need to set it up and work on getting orders out, communicate and understand to listen. We will not be trying out again, unless there is a change of being professional while working where customers can see you. Yes bad feedback should help to push in good feedback down the road to professional staff and...
