Jerry's Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Chesapeake

My cousin suggested Jerry's, his local. That worked for me; I just got off an almost five hour train ride from DC. I had no expectations, just wanted to go somewhere low key to grab a quick bite and a few drinks.

The first thing you notice when you walk into Jerry's is the smell of cigarette smoke. Yes, one can smoke inside here, and yes, there is a separate enclosed smokers lounge. Once you get past that, the setup is your typical strip mall bar complete with events. It was poker league night when we went.

The bar food was solid and it is nice to go to a place that does wings right, not breaded and fried hard. Also, how do you pass up pork rinds on a menu?

What sets Jerry's apart is the service. The team was friendly and attentive. What started as my cousin and I catching up, quickly became a gathering of a dozen people. One round of shots quickly became multiple rounds of shots, ending with my cousin pulling an Irish Exit and leaving me with the tab.

My wife threw a party for me here to celebrate my 50th birthday. We had about 30 friends accompany us. We ate light appetizers which were amazing. The bartenders and servers were also amazing. Amber and Jackie kept the 'spirits" flowing all night without missing a beat. My wife coordinated the event with Courtney who surprised us by setting up a table for 30 with various birthday items such as balloons, party hats, etc. We along with our guests had an amazing night. I have NEVER had a bar/restaurant go this far above and beyond for an event and on behalf of my wife and friends we all would like to say thank you. Jerry’s Restaurant and lounge is a neighborhood bar that has great service and delicious food with reasonable prices. My first visit I ordered one of the specials on the board by the door.. ribeye steak with a crab cake and two sides. The steak was seasoned well, the crab cake was all crab. The asparagus were tender and flavorful. The oysters as an appetizer were crispy. The “hell” burger was good and spicy. The mashed potatoes are real not boxed…delish. The staff is friendly and prompt with orders. On Saturday nights, various live bands perform.
