Really disappointed in our experience yesterday. Our server was good, the food was fine. However- I was charged for 3 all you can eat buffets when we only ordered a roll and rice each. I had no idea that the only option was all you can eat, or I would not have eaten here. I went with 3 kids and ended up paying $23+ a piece for THREE of us when my 10 year old would never have eaten enough to justify buying her all you can eat. I've also had bariatric surgery and couldn't eat "all you can eat" even if I wanted to. Either the menu needs to be more clear or the servers need better training to know to tell people it's ONLY all you can eat. Clearly when I only ordered one roll and rice and didn't ask for more, I wasn't trying to eat the all you can eat buffet. I won't be back because of this. $100 for a roll of sushi and rice for 4 people is insanity. I could have gone to somewhere much better for much less.
Just a quick edit in response to the restaurant response: after we sat there for awhile the waitress went and got her manager (we hadn’t said anything about the check bill at all) and it was apparent that the manager knew what the problem was before she even got to us. She came to the table and asked if everything was okay, I told her that I hadn’t realized the only option was all you can eat. She said okay and that was all. I was never told that anything was ala carte (and if that’s true, I wouldn’t have been charged for buffets when all we had was a single roll each). Please do not come on here and infer that I was misinformed when your staff absolutely was not forthcoming in their mistake. When your manager saw that we had a few rolls and rice she should have immediately changed my bill to reflect the fact that we did not do the all you can eat. Instead I was still charged $100+. Poor practice, even if the food was good I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant simply for the fact that management...
Read moreI used to love this place but I don’t think I’ll ever be going back after my experience today. We went in at roughly 2:40 and were warned it was closing lunch in about 20 minutes so we’d have to order all at once. That’s fine, I understand, I’m a server so I get wanting to close on time. There’s just 2 people including myself, so we order a few rolls all at once through the all you can eat lunch meal, and I tell them that I needed a chicken teriyaki to go that I knew would be separate. The server brought out the food, which was fine, but definitely not as good as it used to be, and I reminded her about the chicken teriyaki to go to make sure it was ready. She then proceeded to bring out said food on a plate, and no box. I reminded her that I just needed it in a box to go and she brought me a menu to look at? I repeated that I just needed the simple meal to go that I had already reminded her of several times and also got the bill to pay. After paying the bill we had to sit there for a solid thirty minutes while the entire staff ate lunch out in the dining room in front of us. I really wish I hadn’t paid the bill already as otherwise I would have just asked to cancel the to go order so I could get out of the restaurant. It was annoying, rude, and confusing. I don’t know what has happened to the quality of this place but we were sitting there with no plates in front of us, clearly ready to go except for this one order that I had ordered when I sat down for a full half hour. By the time I got it I was late to meet my family, and I will not be returning. I don’t know why it’s so hard to put some food in a box. I also made sure to clarify that I could do a to go meal when sitting down, so it’s not like it should have been this much of a problem. I would not recommend this restaurant any longer. Literally any other restaurant...
Read moreA few years ago, one of my older brothers introduced my husband and I to Kagura, and we loved the food and the customer service. Heck, we even ate here after our courthouse wedding in 2021! However, that was the last time we went to Kagura. More recently, I had been thinking about going back to Kagura since it had been a while. I wanted my husband and I to revisit Kagura on Valentine’s Day this year. Knowing that Valentine’s Day is usually a very busy day for restaurants, I understood that putting in reservations too close to the day was going to be a gamble. I chose to attempt calling Kagura many times the day of anyway, to get an idea of availability or wait times - they had two different listed numbers so I tried both. All of those times I tried to call, I got a busy tone and then got disconnected. I also attempted to reserve a spot via Google Reservations, which required it to contact the restaurant via their listed phone. Surprise! Even that also failed. Given that we are over 20 minutes away from the restaurant, we didn’t want to take the risk of driving to the location, only to be turned away from a possible full house by the time of our arrival. I ended up calling another restaurant and they were able to respond even on Valentine’s day, so that’s not really a good excuse to be unavailable via the phone. Because of that, we ended up going to that restaurant instead. With the phone mishap experience, plus taking into account the recent quality issue reviews from previous patrons, I rate this establishment 2 stars. Please fix your phone lines or risk losing potential customers that you could have earned in the...
