MISSION BBQ — Restaurant in Chesapeake

Mission was a complete failure. This was a drive by and ooh that place seems like a good place to ea t type of situation. So I did my research and the reviews was 50/50. So I called and asked them is there food going to be tasty the evening that we decided to dine because we have no money to waste . The waitress was kind of shock to hear such a direct question. So she explained that all there reviews were A+ . So I asked when was the last time she read the reviews, simply for that fact they don't not match up with response she just given me.Then she admitted that she has not read the reviews. So when decided to dine it was an late evening on 06/29/2019 the place we've ordered 1 meat platter of baby back ribs , brisket to sides of mac & cheese, baked beans and it came with a good side of cornbread. The boyfriend order the spare ribs mac& cheese and greens beans with bacon and his came with cornbread. To be honest the best thing consumed were the fountain drinks. The mac& cheese was warm and running did not have the taste that usually comes with it .The ribs where dry as and salty and was not bathed in sauce . The baked beans had a strong after taste that was not pleasant. The beans where completely lost. The Corn bread was room temp not topped with butter and was semi sweet. Everything was basically room temp which will automatically throw the taste off. They really need some restaurant 911 help with there flavorings and and some other things. All in all it was a where not coming back here anymore . Please to whoever is in charge please sit down and go over flavor combinations. Also I really think you should have 1 no more 2 bbq sauces to offer. Pick the wrong choice of sauce can also...

The first time I ate here was Saturday of the opening week and the line was out the door! But it wasn't even a few minutes later that we were already at the register. The cashier was very friendly and able to answer any questions I had about the menu. Good job team! My family and I sat down and waited for our food for a brief moment. Our food came out fast. Had several employees walking around asking if we were doing okay occasionally, they were on top of things. The service was great.

Let's talk about the food: I ordered the Bay-B-Back Ribs and they were just sliding right off the bone nice and hot. Wow! Great flavor and they had at least 6 different BBQ sauces to choose from. Thumbs up! The baked beans were phenomenal. Not exaggerating. Had some brisket in them and just hit the spot. Cornbread was served with my meal and it was moist cornbread (some people like theirs dry, but this was perfect). What other way to accompany an American meal than with an ice cold bottle of Frostie's Root Beer.

Lastly, their Mission. Honoring our military, civil servants, and first responders. If you go there, take the time to read how they were established. I'm a Mission BBQ Believer! Check out their website! They have military décor around the entire restaurant as well as some outside seating. And if you sign up for their birthday club, they give you a coupon immediately for signing up for ANY free sandwich to use within two weeks.

The Battlefield location was the one I visited last (in July 2023) and the moist brisket and kicking’ collards were even more delicious! The service was great once Kristen B. came over with her outstanding customer service and kindness. She was kind enough to give me a free dessert as a USMC Veteran and made my entire day! The strawberry shortcake was delicious as well as the samples of their brownies. I recommend this restaurant so highly because they on Veterans Day they’re most generous and any other day of the week you’ll receive the best food and customer service. UPDATE: Nov 6, 2023. The best brisket I’ve ever tasted and I just left Texas less than 2 weeks ago! I thought I had best Brisket down there but today this was just as Good at Mission (on Battlefield)! Great service as well. Jazz made me the best (moist) brisket ever! Even the fat tasted delicious! 🤤 Tammie was most kind as my cashier she offered me a sample of the cheesy potatoes because they no longer had the kickin’ collards nor the potato salad. I ended up with the moist brisket slices, slaw, cheesy potatoes and a warm dessert. Tabitha is simply awesome as well. Marta is always kind enough to help you find anything you’re missing . Great staff, delicious food and all tasty sauces on top...
