Stop. Just stop reading glowing reviews and GO. You will not regret it. Truly, Chef Hiro is an artist. His creations are magnificent in appearance and stunning in flavor. Never have I had such luscious house made sauces at a Japanese restaurant. This man is a culinary star. We began with a seaweed plate which looked like elegantly uncluttered Japanese art. The sauce was so spectacular, my guest ordered another bowl. We couldn’t resist the curious idea of Berry Tuna. So unexpected; so superb. Again, we ordered a second plate and would let neither go until every bit of sauce was consumed. My guests, sushi veterans, claim this Volcano Roll is the absolute best they have ever had. High praise from Foodies. A tuna roll and a gogo mango roll disappeared with speed. Both were excellent. We asked Hana, our charming waitstaff if Hiro had specific recommendations. DEFINITELY ask. At his suggestion we got mackerel nigiri. Oh my gosh. If only we hadn’t gotten the last pieces. Frankly, I can’t believe I’m extolling raw fish on rice, but now I know what it can be from the hand of a master. The flounder nigiri with lemon pink salt and a light touch of wasabi is a revelation. I was going to ask him to withhold the wasabi—I never eat it. That would have been a mistake. My guest rejoiced over the scallop nigiri. The full sweetness of the shellfish blossomed—-no substituting skate or shark here. We ended with a green tea crepe and a mochi plate. Definitely worth it. To end, I cannot believe what a stellar meal we had. Not one item was less than outstanding. We must keep this restaurant in business. Go. Go...
