While the breakfast at Hilton Chicago’s 720 S Bar & Grill offered a nice variety, or at least what I could grab of it, my experience as a parent dining solo with a child left me feeling unwelcome and unsupported.
Visiting family while my husband attended a conference in the hotel, I chose the breakfast buffet for its convenience and to set my day with a full meal. However, this proved to be a disappointing decision.
First off- my son is regularly called a chill baby. He hangs out and typically isn’t too chaotic beyond the occasional bottle toss. But- none brought water to the table, a simple oversight that added to the feeling of being avoided by staff. Later, when I asked if I could briefly park the stroller to grab even a banana, I was met with scoffs by the hostess, making an already challenging situation even more frustrating. I was warned it was a buffet, sure, but the attitude I received was shocking… since when are buffets not kid friendly? Other restaurant-goers were all dressed for a local football game.
At $39 per person (not including tip), leaving breakfast hungry and uncomfortable doesn’t feel acceptable. Compounding the issue, room service options at the hotel are limited to a small concession counter, delicious but I had already relied on it multiple times.
For parents considering the breakfast buffet at 720 S Bar & Grill when staying at the Hilton Chicago, I caution against it. The food itself was typical fare, but the atmosphere made it clear that families like mine aren’t welcome. If you’re traveling with children or looking for a stress-free meal, seek other options to avoid a...
Read moreI was staying at the Hilton Chicago where this place is located. It was late, rainy outside, & I need something to eat. Thus I ended up here. The sliders & truffle fries on the menu caught my eye. Thank you for having your menu online. It was pretty empty & I found a server to inquire about placing a to go order. Since I knew what I wanted he took my order & gave me a class of water. Quick & easy. The bill was also brought out quickly before I even had food. A bit pricey for two sliders & truffle fries but that's what happens when one doesn't want to leave the hotel. My order came out pretty quickly & I took it to my room. The sliders were way smaller than any others I have had. For $6/each I expected them to be bigger than kids menu size. The truffle fries were tasty but way too much parmesan. It looked like the lid fall off the cheese shaker & no one cared to dust it off or make a new batch of fries. I shook off the excess myself. Hopefully I don't have to be subjected to this place again during my stay. Not worth the cost...

The service was hospitable. Angel and David were both very pleasant, refilling our coffees and water, and overall attending to our table. They ensured my coworkers and I received excellent service!
