Being relatively new to the Chicago scene, this coffee shop is a refreshing change from the ubiquitous coffee chains that you find on every street corner. This quaint coffee shop is located a few blocks from where I live so it's super convenient to grab a quick drink or bite to eat on the go.
When it comes to drinks, Bridgeport Coffee is fair trade certified and carries a wide variety of drinks and a decent selection of sandwiches, baked goods, and etc. Their drinks are just as pricey as some of the other popular chains, but I think they are just as good if not better! The coffees are nice and strong, especially the frozen fraps. I've also had the arnold palmer (1/2 iced tea, 1/2 lemonade), which was equally as delicious. I've also tried some of their sandwiches, specifically the grilled chicken sandwich on wheat loaded with large chunks of piping hot chicken breast with a myriad of toppings and condiments. The sandwich and wraps are all made to order and they bring it to your table hot and fresh! Also, all wraps and sandwiches come with chips and different options for bread including wheat, white, bagel, etc. You can also substitute for soup, salad or fruit cup for a couple dollars more.
The baristas are incredibly warm and friendly every time I've visited, which is a plus. Nothing ruins my cup o joe more than a rude barista, ugh! Bridgeport Coffee also is a great spot to come study if the library doesn't work for you or you get distracted at home. The password to the wifi is on a board right next to the door so you don't have to go to the counter and awkwardly ask the baristas. The only drawback is that wifi can be suppppperrr slow at times when there are many people using it so you have been warned! The owners should really upgrade to a faster service.
In terms of parking, there isn't a parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking around the area. Overall, this is an amazing coffee shop that everyone should try out...
Read moreBridgeport Coffeehouse is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and savor the moment. From the moment we walked in, the cozy, vintage décor and relaxed atmosphere set the tone for a perfect start to our morning. The space is filled with character, warm lighting, old-school charm and it instantly feels like a neighborhood favorite.
I ordered a hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant, and let me tell you, this pairing was everything I needed to kick off the day. The hot chocolate was served steaming and aromatic, with a deep cocoa aroma that promised comfort in every sip. It had a rich, velvety texture and just the right balance between creamy and bold, not overly sugary, but indulgent enough to satisfy a sweet tooth.
But the star of the show was the croissant. This wasnāt your average flaky pastry with a hint of chocolate, this was a full-on chocolate experience. Each bite was loaded with gooey, melty chocolate that oozed out in the most satisfying way. The outside was golden and crisp, while the inside was buttery, soft, and decadently rich. It was a beautiful mess in the best way, one of those pastries that leaves a little chocolate on your fingers and a big smile on your face.
Bridgeport Coffeehouse nails it: good drinks, great pastries, and a space that feels like home. If youāre in the area, treat yourself to the chocolate croissant, youāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was a regular, and I came in once and a worker made me a tea. The tea was amazing and I would request it each time. Jack (the owner) one day just blew up and yelled at me, while they were busy. I still purchased the tea and tipped 20% for the workers as it is not their fault.
I went today and went to order the tea again not understanding what is the problem with making me a tea. I greeted the cashier and Jack as I walked in and explained to Jack (the owner) that I did not appreciate the way he spoke to me during my last visit. Jack doubled down and attempted to gaslight me explaining that he told me they do not make specialty teas, and I told him thatās fine, but he will not yell at me as he did not communicate that at all especially not calmly like an adult. Jack tried to continue to gaslight me and explain that he did tell me before, so I told him I will not be back again. He proceeded to point to the door, and said he did not appreciate how I spoke to him as I was advocating for myself calmly.
The workers have been great and I feel sorry they have to work under someone so narcissistic /...
