On my visit, I decided to try the hot chocolate paired with the Centaur panini, and it turned out to be the perfect combination to start my day. The hot chocolate was everything I needed: rich, velvety, and steaming hot. It wasn’t overly sweet, but had a deep, full-bodied chocolate flavor that was both smooth and comforting. With each sip, it enveloped me in warmth, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the day. It was indulgent but not overwhelming, a simple yet satisfying treat.
The Centaur panini was a delightful surprise. The turkey was tender, juicy, and flavorful, balanced perfectly by sliced tomatoes that brought a refreshing burst of flavor. The cheddar cheese was melted to perfection, offering a creamy richness that complemented the savory turkey without being too heavy. What truly elevated this panini was the avocado spread, smooth, creamy, and slightly nutty, it tied everything together beautifully. The panini was perfectly toasted, with a crispy exterior and a soft, warm interior, creating a satisfying texture...
Read moreWhen I moved to Bridgeport 5 years ago, I found and fell in love with Jackalope. I loved the art, the environment, the menu, and it made me feel like I was part of the neighborhood. I would do my schoolwork, write poems and relax there. It became my comfort place and when I was having a rough day I would order from here to feel better. Last year I placed a larger order for many sandwiches. I was excited to get nutritious and delicious food and drinks for everyone. However, when the order arrived, the sandwiches were not what we were expecting portion-wise, having ordered from there so many times before. I called to discuss what had happened instead the owner was extremely disrespectful and mean even though I was polite and wanted to genuinely discuss what happened. She dismissed and completely disregarded my feelings immediately. I was completely shocked and heartbroken. I understand that working customer service during the holidays is very difficult and exhausting, but there was no need for the owner to react that way over a genuine issue with the order. Further attempts to speak to the owner resulted in them continuing to be rude and disrespectful. The employees of Jackalope are all very kind and have always been amazing people, however, their boss the owner ironically is...
Read moreI’m a local who’s lived near Jackalope for many years. The place is fine if you like gentrified coffee shops but I think it’s a shallow excuse for a local cafe. I’ve gone here a few times and every time I’m disappointed by my experience. The staff always treat you like they’re trying to get rid of you as fast as possible, and they hardly make eye contact or even say anything besides “what do you want.” And it’s never busy when I go - it just seems like the staff hates people. Why would you work at a coffee shop if you don’t like talking to people? Plus, the sandwiches and coffee are subpar. My drink was more than 50% ice, and they forgot to add the syrup I wanted. And I still got charged for it. I used to like the Jackalope sandwich, but this last time I was so underwhelming I let my dog eat it. I’ll probably never shop here again, because why would I want to spend my money at an establishment that 1) doesn’t respect my time, and 2) doesn’t even taste that good. The only redeeming quality of this place is that it seems to sell local artists’ artwork but there wasn’t any advertisement making it clear what...
