Richard J. Daley Branch, Chicago Public Library — Attraction in Chicago

I just came after the renovation and they changed up the books. Now you're greeted by many books that definately aren't kid friendly. Some covers having nudity(which was on the first bookcase you see when you go in).

Also when the library had around 10 minutes till closing, the security lady told me two minutes or else I won't be able to check out. A couple minutes later, the lady on the checkout counter yelled 5 more minutes till closing. The security lady unnecessarily rushed me so the library could close faster despite people still picking books and things like that. Overall, this library after the renovation...

They really need to post clear instructions about how their computer reservations function.

I was asking the library attendants for info and it’s just hard to hear with the masks.

The security guard was pretty rude. I tried to ask what she was telling me and she told me I was putting words in her mouth. That’s a very confrontational way to respond to someone who is asking about a library card number (literally I asked “did you say I will need to enter this code to print?”) I don’t know if she is having a bad day but that makes me never want to go into that library again. This is my local branch of CPL. It isn't the most updated branch (it could really use some new flooring, lighting, etc.) but it has a ton of heart and the staff are incredible. They really work hard to help the public on what I can only assume is a limited budget and staffing. Love using the library for books, dvds, and...
