Chicago Waffles South Loop — Restaurant in Chicago

Server did not take my order properly and I was charged for an overpriced meal, that i purposely avoided ordering. Descriptions of two meals were similar and therefore waiter went with the one he thought I wanted when I specifically pointed to the menu for the meal I wanted - an egg meal that I added steak to. When the bill came I was shocked to see that I was charged for the meal I did not want. My biggest issue here was the manager interrogating me on what I pointed to when I ordered and how I communicated it with the waiter (and he did this rudely). Then the manager proceeded to tell me I should have told them that the order was wrong when I received it before I started eating it. I had no idea I had the wrong meal because it had steak and eggs in, which is what I ordered - egg meal with the addition of meat of choice and I chose steak. But they gave me a different meal on the menu called skirt steak and eggs. It was truly annoying to deal with this as I started my Saturday. The manager had no class and raised his voice with me. Poor business practice. I live in the neighborhood but will never return here. I paid over $32 instead of $18 for the meal that I ordered and the worst part is that I was treated so horribly. As a business owner myself I was appalled at this way of treating the client.

To Chicago Waffles and your response to my review. Keep deceiving people and taking no accountability for your actions. Many people complain about your place and don’t write reviews. Also, don’t turn me into a liar, such as yourselves… I didn’t point to a picture… I pointed to written menu items…your waiter repeated “with the steak… ?” It’s your job to get my order, right… Perhaps you should train your waiters into having better listening skills.

Here’s another tip…Don’t put the picture of an item next to a menu item that it doesn’t pertain to. This seems to be confusing your waiters.

As for the leftovers - I purposely left them by the cashier in the restaurant after the horrible experience. Perhaps, if you paid attention to your customers and your surroundings, you would understand them better. And looking at all the other negative reviews… You’ve done nothing but insult your customers rather than rectifying situations.

Also the person who took my order was a waiter (a male). You are referencing a waitress. Clearly you don’t know what is happening in...

This was my first time visiting Chicago and I decided to come here because who can mess up on waffles right? So I came here the bananas on my waffle was bad mushed like the old bananas when they turn brown I made a complaint and literally the whole restaurant staff was eyeing me the entire time I remained there I will never ever recommend this place it was so unprofessional and food was so nasty I paid for it but that’s what I get for going against the place I really wanted to go to food is nasty employees are rude and nasty pick somewhere else don’t waste your time….here’s a upload of the picture of the nasty bananas I am a very very happy person me and my daughter even made a dancing video here but we will not post it on our social media to help you with customers the problem is restaurants like u think your entitled and that’s why u didn’t have any customers in there look at your review comment lol you treated me bad because you thought I had an attitude that I didn’t have especially not with you why would it be I don’t even know you so your employees was giving me an attitude based off assumption so sad the customer service comes from the overhead which you don’t seem like a good one I have plenty successful businesses if something wrong take it into consideration not offense and a reason to treat a customer with disrespect I pay like I weigh I didn’t ask for a discount just good food which your restaurant doesn’t have be blessed! Listen we danced before we experienced the food and nasty customer service you guys are rude and look how you reply no one started giving dirty looks until I complained your food nasty get a better cook that’s all I mean I am pretty I don’t mind people looking at me but the dirty looks is uncalled for yes please look at my profile so you customers know where not to go to I can make fake profiles and comment on people stuff but I’m not ashamed to blast businesses who don’t know how to do business or run a business or treat customers like they are the reason why their business remain now according to my 5 star businesses I run pretty successful ones maybe you should stop trying to defend your unprofessional business and look at ways to improve...

Beverages are a highlight here, and I can't help but exclaim, "OMG, the spicy cucumber is an absolute revelation!" Don't miss the chance to try it yourself; its flavor closely resembles the beloved Mexican paleta candy. Moving on to the food, our experience was quite enjoyable. We opted for the kids' cinnamon waffles with bananas, which leaned slightly towards the sweeter side for a child's initial meal, yet it was undeniably delightful.

For the main courses, my sister decided on the spicy chicken and waffles. However, the dish fell a bit short on the chicken portion, necessitating her to shred it to make it last. Interestingly, despite the waiter's prior warning of its spiciness, the dish turned out to be milder than expected. On my part, I chose the waffle sandwich, and I was not disappointed. Though I had the impression it would come accompanied by waffle fries, it's possible I might have been mistaken in my expectations.

The service experience was noteworthy, with our waiter consistently checking up on us. What stood out was the waiter's proactive approach in advocating for our needs; they even sought assistance from the manager, and it paid off beautifully. The level of attentiveness certainly contributed to a positive dining atmosphere.

In conclusion, the beverages, especially the spicy cucumber, deserve a standing ovation for their unique and sensational flavors. The culinary journey continued to delight with the kids' waffles and bananas, even though it leaned towards a sweeter profile. Despite minor hiccups, like the underwhelming portion of chicken in the spicy chicken and waffles, and the dish's milder-than-expected spiciness, the overall experience was satisfying.
