This place is great! It’s located in the old offices of VeeJay Records, a famous soul, R&B, jazz and rock (the first Beatles album!) label in the 1960s. If that weren’t cool enough, there’s also soft lighting, exposed brick, a high loft wood beam ceiling, VeeJay record paraphernalia, and chill background music playing homage to their roots. Pretty crowded (but surprisingly quiet) with what appear to be lots of work-from-homers. And they serve coffee flights! Four 4oz pours of their signature lattes. How fun is that? This one is going on my favorites list

The interior here is wonderful, and I enjoy their specialty coffees but the only things I don’t like are the slow service and music is playing too loud. Typically only one or two people working, responsible for taking orders, making the drinks, and clean up - service can be somewhat slower compared to other places nearby. It can get crowded during weekdays and weekends with people working. I would recommend the Vee Jay or Overflow lattes. All prices are very reasonable but don’t expect exceptional food here. It’s perfect for a quick snack or bite to eat.

If you missed this place walking down Michigan Avenue, I could forgive you as the signage is pretty small and the door is hidden in a vestibule. But you'd be missing out! This is a great spot for a coffee while working or reading. Lots of table space throughout along with wifi. Coffee is a special blend from metric and they have a decent selection of pastries along side quiches, mocktails, and your standard specialty drinks. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to visit again but it's worth stopping if you live nearby.

Overflow Coffee Bar is all kinds of wrong. I say that with a smile on my face because clearly no one that offers a Nutella Mocha actually has your best interest in mind.

How could they. The name alone is a sin because.. NUTELLA MOCHA! Talk about a sweet (but not too sweet) caffeinated creation that will keep you coming back for more.

The regular coffee is decent too but their creative takes on coffee are probably what you should be going for since you can get a regular coffee anywhere. (Not to say the regular coffee is bad, it isn't, but it doesn't stand out as their custom creations do.)

Food wise they have a decent mix of organic and healthy food that, wait for it, tastes good. (Don't worry pastry lovers they are a coffee shop. You'll have some unhealthy options here too.) I've only been here a few times but if I still lived in the area I'd be here at least once a week. If you work or live by here I highly suggest stopping in so you'll be here quite...

Update: The owners reached out to me to hear out my concerns. I appreciate it and I have noticed more consistent quality in the lattes since our meeting.

I feel as though the coffee shop has been slowly degrading since the old owners left. The lattes used to be consistently high quality and absolutely delicious. I would go out of my way to grab one. I was and currently am a member since I grab a latte almost every day before work. The old owner really cared about having high quality coffee and would recognize me and really make me feel special for choosing his coffee shop. Since the new ownership, I keep having to get my name looked up in their system, they get my same exact every day order wrong at times and the consistent quality is just no longer there. I will probably continue going because it’s better than Starbucks but I am keeping my eyes open for...

went there couples weeks ago and forgot to write this review until i passed by today ( i work at the clinic nearby ). my bf had the lavender latte & a bagel. my boyfriend injured his back so i ordered and waited at the counter for it. i had to stop the girl from giving us the bagel because she didn’t change gloves, using gloves that have touched pork to make a cream cheese bagel for my MUSLIM bf. which i would have never know if i hadn’t been standing there waiting. when i ask her if she could remake it because of that, she said why. i shouldn’t have to explain but then decided to make other peoples order before remaking the bagel while his latte was getting cold. took another 10 mins to have...
