I had the pleasure of dining at AO Hawaiian Hideout, and from the moment I stepped in, the ambience transported me to the serene shores of Hawaii. The decor resonated with my family, making us feel like we were truly on an island getaway. To start, we embarked on a culinary adventure with a sampler platter that delighted our taste buds. It featured delectable egg rolls, savory crab Rangoon, perfectly crispy tempura-fried shrimp, flavorful pot stickers, and a mouthwatering spam musubi, glazed to perfection. This appetizer set the stage for an exquisite dining experience. For our main course, we indulged in the beef pad see ewe, a dish bursting with savory flavors, generous portions of tender meat, and an explosion of taste. Alongside it, the bourbon teriyaki chicken stole the show with its exquisite blend of flavors, leaving us craving for more. The drinks complemented our meal beautifully, offering a delightful array of flavors and refreshment. AO Hawaiian Hideout is a place I wholeheartedly recommend for an outing with family or friends. And for those who love a bit of live entertainment, don't miss their live music performances on the first Saturday of every month. A true Hawaiian culinary gem awaits you here.

My family and I visited while on a trip to Chicago and had a great experience. I have Celiac Disease and they were knowledgeable and had several options marked on the menu. I am always a little afraid I will get glutened when I eat out, but they even had tamari available and were sure to let know items that other members of my party ordered were unsafe. I was hopeful there would be more traditional Hawaiian dishes I could enjoy, but the Vietnamese dish I had was very good. The menu was extensive and encompassed many various foods you encounter in Hawaii. My kids especially loved their sushi and hubby said the pork belly tacos were delicious. It was a fun throwback to some he had on our honeymoon on O'ahu. The portion sizes were large, presentation was lovely, and prices were reasonable. The food and ambiance, coupled with friendliness of the staff make this an awesome little gem. As a bonus it was a short walk from popular hotels families stay at for museum trips and the metro was nearby. We will definitely visit next time we are up!

I was blown away by AO Hawaiian Hideout. Let me start with the service: the waiters were so friendly and quick. Our server apologized for the wait time for the food, but the food came out pretty quickly! They made us feel welcome and gave great service with a smile. The food was great! The loco moco was so hearty and delicious. I’m usually pretty skeptical of sushi outside of a Japanese restaurant, but the sushi did not disappoint. While I was not a fan of the choice of noodle for the pad Thai, the flavor more than made up for it. The Penang poutine was my favorite dish as the curry had such a rich flavor while the basil and red onion perfectly complemented the sweet potato fries. And the mango colada was refreshing and came in a fun coconut cup. Lastly, the decorations and ambiance helped us to feel and home. Seeing the fun Star Wars tiki cups added a bit of fun to such a relaxing atmosphere. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was perfect and it has already become a favorite spot in the city.

Love love loved this place. My husband and I got drinks in the star wars tiki glasses for sale and they were fantastic. Both drinks tasted amazing and were pretty strong. The waitress even washed out the cups when we were finished so they could be stored for the journey home. We ordered the spam musubi and the pork pelly tacos, which each had their own phenomenal flavors. The spam musubi was well cooked, allowing the sauce to coat the meat well and the rice was seasoned just right. The pork belly tacos were just the right mix of spicy and sweet and had all kinds of flavor! The app and entree were both a good portion for the price and just enough for my husband and I. The only change I would make would be to change the pork belly from big slabs to smaller pieces in order to make the tacos easier to eat (they were veeery messy as is). All in all, 9.8/10, would definitely recommend.

We came for dinner and had a somewhat good experience. The decor was cute, and the service was quick. We ordered the spicy General Tsao’s chicken, Thai basil chicken with a fried egg, ahi tuna poke bowl, midnight tsunami sushi roll, pad see ewe with chicken, Vietnamese home style pho, and Huli Huli chicken poke bowl. The food was good, but the spice levels were mild at best, despite us asking for multiple dishes to be extra spicy. Our server was also somewhat rude to us. Additionally, there was a 20% service charge calculated into the bill already, but this service charge took 20% of the total bill including tax, which is not the typical way to calculate the service charge. We were somewhat caught off guard by the bill, as this wasn’t explicitly disclosed to us, and we realized this on our own after leaving the restaurant. We may still return, but only because the food was good.

Immaculate vibes at this South Loop hidden gem. The food was 10/10 and the drinks were absolutely amazing. Hands down the best fried rice I’ve had in the city, and the garlic wings were so hot and fresh you could hear the crunch across the table. My fiancé had the loco moco and potstickers and also sung their praises. The sauce that came with the potstickers should be bottled and sold! Overall an incredible value and experience. The servers were so kind even though we came in late. The drinks were phenomenal! My piña colada hating fiancé said he might like piña coladas after tasting the one here. My only regret was having a snack before coming here and not finding this place sooner. I cannot sing its praises enough, we will definitely be back with friends. If you love tiki bars or just great drinks and food, this will be your new favorite spot.
