I had a great time at O'Callaghan's Chicago at 29 West Hubbard in Chicago. The doorman and two bartenders, whose names escape me but I know they both start with the letter "R," where very accommodating and friendly. Especially since I came in minutes prior to close on a Saturday night/Sunday early morning.
SERVICE... The young lady was even kind enough to make sure I still had the chance to have one last pint of Lagunitas as the lights slowly turned up. She and her colleague had been busy with the rush of last minute orders by other O'Callaghan's patrons and I was sort of tucked away in the corner so it was a nice touch on her part. Furthermore, they also afforded me a few minutes to take some quick pictures to upload to Google when I mentioned I was a member of Google's #LocalGuides. Without any prompting, the gentleman provided me with some insights, personal recommendations and even offered me some feedback to forward to Google. It was a nice touch on his part to share some time with me after what I'm sure was a long shift on an unusually hot 90°F day in our Windy City.
FOOD... I owe it to O'Callaghan's to make it back soon with enough time to order food so I can fill in this section of the review and propose a 5-Star ranking.
ALL IN ALL... Great service, fun atmosphere, clean restrooms in a very well kept, two-story modern Irish pub. Do not be fooled by the classic, Irish name. This is not your local, neighborhood dive. I consider O'Callaghan's to be the premiere Irish Pub in Chicago's River North entertainment district that attracts tourists, local professionals, college students and those neighboring bartenders and servers like me whom belong to "The Industry."

If you're getting fries, pick the waffle fries or tater tots! Otherwise most of the food is just basic frozen/premade from a vendor, but understandable when you have an extremely small/fun sized kitchen (1 cook). So if you are planning to come to eat (actual entrees, not appetizers/drunk food) with 4 this is your spot, for larger groups (4
First time going here tonight and first impressions terrible. Place doesn't value customer service. Came in with my husband and his friend and was told to go upstairs, got served a drink that was straight syrup when I told the waitress she snatched the drink and instead of offering to make a new one she immediately says she’ll take it off the bill, I would have never even asked for it to be removed But ok no sweat off my back, my friend said she’s rude and we obviously aren’t welcomed here so at that point we politely ask her to close us out. She comes, we pay the bill and leave her 20% tip despite the terrible service and instead of saying thank you she tells us “next time don’t open a tab if your going to close it out and return drinks”. Immediately I tell her we can do what we want and that’s when she yells in my face and causes a screaming match for everyone to see, she then calls security on us. I ask the security about 10 times to direct me to a manager and he tells us he is the manager and doesn’t offer anything to validate us as the customers. Obviously this place runs off of no customer service. P.S the waitress should lay off the cocacola (it’s obvious and making her aggressive.) 1star...
