First time staying in the Congress, and we were looking for a nice, quick bite before our show at the Auditorium Theatre. We ordered the hummus appetizer, a chicken Caesar salad, and the New York strip. The best part of the meal was the hummus appetizer. The Caesar dressing was “yucky” (real life quote), although the chicken itself was okay. The steak was cooked as ordered (medium), but was served with the most bland blanched broccoli I’ve ever gotten at a sit-down restaurant. The bottomless broccoli served at Red Robin is better. My steak was served with “au jus” that was a small, plastic ramekin filled with a grey, congealed mass—if that’s their au jus, I’d hate to have their Italian beef sandwich.
The presentation of the tables was nice—red napkins with crystal wine glasses—but the atmosphere ended there. While there seemed to be speakers nested into the ceiling of the restaurant, the dining area was...
Read moreThe only good thing about this restaurant is the convenience of it being in the hotel. The food was extremely mediocre ESPECIALLY for its price tag, breakfast that's near $20 is just absurd for pancakes and bacon. Scrambled eggs came out literally dripping and undercooked, not sure how you mess up toast but only one side was toasted. The unfortunate table across from us sat for around 5-10 minutes with no silverware AFTER their food arrived and asked multiple times. Waitress was pleasant but seemed to forget anything that was asked/specifically requested (she didn't use a pad of paper or anything to keep track of orders). I'll recommend avoiding this restaurant unless it's your...
Read moreWe were in Chicago 5/20/23 and walked to this hotel after a tour because we were hungry. My feet were killing me and it was the closest place to eat. Upon entry we were asked to show a room key. After seeing several sketchy people near the entrance we understood why. We proceeded to the restaurant (with posted open time of 11:30-10:30pm.) The time was 9:40pm. We asked for a menu and were told, "you can find it on-line. Im the chef and we stopped serving food." I said you close at 9:44pm? He said "technically." We found a more welcoming restaurant down the street at the welcoming Palmer hotel. I would not stay here or eat here after this...
