Important context is: I am an international visitor from Perth Australia. I only had 09/09/2025 spent in Chicago between 9:30am and 7:00pm. Me and one of my dearest friends came in less than 10 minutes before closing time and I was ready to plead with a manager or a owner or whoever I needed to so that I could just briefly lay my eyes on Sue herself and get a film photo with her. Thank goodness I met Tim who I believe is a security guard in the foyer. He was massively accomodating and so so so kind and understanding. He helped me with directions and getting through security quickly so that I could live that dream and tick that bucket list item off. Surely enough I got photos with Sue, some on my phone and some on film. Without Tim’s help I would be leaving back to Australia and probably never get another chance to see this incredible collection we know and awe over. Thanks so much Tim if you ever read this and I hope you are blessed. I will never get to thank him enough for what he did for me.

In fact, the gift shop focuses on the dinosaurs, without considering any of the other museum collections. The only thing I bought was post cards (actually reasonable at $1 each). The staff was super friendly, even though the...

I highly recommend checking out the “Women in Science” series—really inspiring stuff! I also have to give a shout-out to their fair trade items from Africa and the handcrafted pieces from Egypt—so unique! The Mexican section was super impressive too. I’m not sure if these are permanent collections or just seasonal, but definitely worth spending some...
