If I could, I would’ve gave this place 0 star review.
My girlfriend and I got a two 3 taco dinners, and a large horchata to share. For my tacos, I got two carne asada and one al pastor. My girlfriend got two streak and one chorizo. How the heck did this turn out to be $44?! The taco dinner was $15.79 each. The large horchata was close to $5. If I did the math right, it would’ve cost $37 plus tax. Even the 10% tax still would’ve been $3.60 more. $36 + $3.60 still would’ve cost closer to $40. Where did the extra $4 come from? Probably from the hidden surcharge of using card fees or changing the tacos. The cashier who took our order (older light-skinned male) didn’t even tell me as he was typing the numbers on the register. At least inform your customers what are extra charges instead of breezing through it. UNREAL.
The food…man, I couldn’t even tell you. The rice was undercooked, the beans were very watery, the steak was undercooked on the tacos, and the horchata was very sweet. If I would’ve known it was that sweet, I would’ve got a Coke. Honestly, for $4 a taco, they’re small. I would consider it as a kid’s meal taco dinner. The only good thing was the al pastor and chorizo tacos and the tortillas of the tacos. Oh, I forgot to mention, their bathrooms are clean too.
The ambiance was somewhat okay. I could tell their eyes were on us while we were eating. Of course, my girlfriend and I were critiquing the food. As a person who enjoys tacos (Pacos Tacos, Atotonilco, Zacatacos), this may have to be on the bottom of the list. Maybe one-up over Taco Bell.
Overall, would I come back here again? Most likely not. I wouldn’t even recommend this to a friend. In all honesty, this place is overpriced, hence the location is in Gold Coast. Of course, I would have thought it was decent at first based off the reviews, but the residents of Gold Coast would pay overpriced tacos. It’s really a good spot, but BE AWARE! What you pay is not what you get. I really should’ve took my money to Au Cheval down the street and still get the satisfaction of paying $44 and being full.
OHH AND AFTER ALL OF THIS, WE WEREN’T EVEN FULL. My girlfriend and I ended up spending $30 at Au Cheval and was...
Read moreI am obsessed with this place. I have loved their tacos, quesadillas, and tortas for the last few years. However, now I’m here several times a week since they brought Mr.Gyros. I used to love their gyros when they were on Division, and when they brought it here I was overjoyed. The gyros are fantastic, with the best tzatziki in all of Chicago. But I have also found the new love of my life, their Polish sausage. I’ve never been crazy about them from other places, until another customer recommended I try it here one day, changed my life! I crave it at least two or three times a week. Sooo...
Read moreJust because I’m living in Michigan otherwise I would be there every single day we randomly and unexpectedly stopped by in a Chicago family trip and we got gladly surprised the menu included large variety of tacos gyros burgers and sides. I got a burger and it was amazing huge grilled burger and full of taste remembered my childhood in Mexico. My sister and husband got tacos meal and they said it was awesome no matter if I have to drive three hours away from home to get there I’ll definitely will come back. Also noticed the place is pretty...
