This time in Chicago I have decided to try a new place for dim sum after a friend's recommendation to Triple Crown and overall was not disappointed. My friends and I had a reduced menu for some reason so it had fewer items than the one shown online. All of the congee and the vegetables were missing. I do not know if it is because we were there for dinner, but that was okay because what the menu contained was more than enough. We ordered what we could and it satisfied my friends' cravings as most of them fulfilled their very first dim sum experience.
My favorite was the liquid custard bun (流沙包), the triple crown shrimp dumpling (大三元虾饺), the shrimp & chive dumpling (鲜虾韭菜饺), and the pan fried turnip cake (香煎萝卜糕). One thing I say about dim sum is that when one has it, there's not really a place where dim sum is going to be spectacularly good, because one would expect it to taste like what it is supposed to taste like. Only when it is bad that one would be able to tell right away. So the items I mentioned, they tasted like what they were supposed to taste like, and that was definitely a good thing. Not saying the rest didn't, though, as many other items were good as well, such as the scallop dumpling (带子饺), the fried sesame ball (黄金煎堆仔), the stuffed sticky rice (珍珠糯米鸡), and so on. A few items did not taste as good as I had expected, but were still good enough and would not ruin my experience at all. We ordered twelve different kinds of dim sum and were overall satisfied. My friends who were not Chinese had a wonderful time with their first dim sum experience.
It would have been nice if some items like the pineapple top BBQ pork bun (叉烧菠萝包), the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce (蚝油芥蓝), the puffy egg custard tart (酥皮蛋挞), etc. were on the menu that we were given. But if the reduced menu was a dinner thing, then so be it. I still thought whatever they had would be able to give people a pleasant experience.
They also had other menus with non-dim sum items. I took a look but didn't pay much attention. The photos looked appealing, though. I just don't know if I would return to this place to order items that were not dim sim simply because a lot of the dishes I have had while at home in China and grew up eating them (but not necessarily dim sum). But I still encourage others to give them a shot.
In conclusion, great food! A lot of other factors ranging from courtesy to sanitation (bathrooms) can be better, but I understand how Chinese restaurants here in the United States typically run their businesses and I am not picky about it. It just means the food is reliably good as it has the...

Legitimately the best restaurant around (Chi Town). Doesn’t matter what I get I end up liking it. My partner and I have been eating here for a few years now. They make the for breakfast and probably the best I’ve had.
The food at is exceptional! Very tasty and well prepared and you can chose among many menu options. I love the service at the place and the chef is so friendly with the guests and always takes care to offer the best quality! I highly recommend this place.Absolutely amazing! The place is beautiful and staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. I love that you get a lot of food as well for the price. It’s definitely not like other expensive restaurants and you only get a small amount of food. I am definitely going back.
The menus options are an excellent value. The dining experience overall is very pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was clean and smelled good. The staff and greeter was very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Then we also had dessert and that was really good as well. Great atmosphere with really nice people.
They do need to make the ladies restroom a bit bigger and cleaner... not sure about the male restroom but definitely needs help.
Delicious food, waiters are very attentive, and super nice atmosphere. Plus it’s all at an affordable price.
Can totally recommend it and will definitely come back again.
**Wish they had a bar area or a smoothly parlor something around this lines... (very useful for people who are waiting) Add a TV in the bar area as well. Also another recommendation for the owner is update the waiting list to a page system or use a different device to contact the guest.
Check them out in there gram page!! You'll find lots of options to order.
**Remember to give your parking ticket for validation to only pay $3...
Read morePreviously disappointed by dim sum at MingHin Cuisine, I was determined to find the dim sum of my dreams. Triple Crown, I can now declare that you have earned a spot in my dim sum hall of fame.

Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumpling - The golden-brown exterior gave way to a juicy and flavorful filling. 4 out of 5.
Shanghai Soup Dumpling - The broth was good, but the dough was a little doughy. 3 out of 5.
Remarks:
We were a bit disappointed to find out they didn't have crepes. Maybe they're only available for lunch, or perhaps they had run out by dinnertime. Regardless, we were still blown away by the dim sum.
The ambiance was like a bustling street market in China. The sounds of sizzling stir fries and chatter filled the room. The service wasn't immaculate, but hey, they're serving up some of the best dim sum in town. I'll eat my dumplings with a side of attitude any day. Ask for soy sauce and chili oil to really elevate your dim...
