LADIES PLEASE BEWARE: ZANIES IS NOT A SAFE SPACE FOR WOMEN • I went here Thurs 12/19/24. I'm a massive standup comedy fan worldwide so I booked a solo ticket being new to Chicago. At last minute, it ended up being a first date and the guy kept ordering drinks for us - nonstop. As alcohol goes, I didn't realize the drinks had hit me, again, because I wasn't asking for, or ordering them from the waitress. Otherwise, I take full responsibility for the choices that I made in drinking the beverages that were put in front of me. However, at one point I lowered my head, in disagreement with something my date has said (it bothered me but not enough to leave) *The staff then approached this man and told him that I was drunk and he needed to take me out of the establishment * I have NO IDEA WHY they would not approach me, a calm, quiet, full grown adult to address any issues. I am out 8 nights a week in cities across the globe and have never, ever pushed the limit to where I was not coherent. However Zanies thought the only route was to approach this man that I was sitting beside... to... take me where?! As an "inebriated" female?! Just anywhere what wasn't Zanie's?!?? What they had told him was "can you take her out of here, because we're filming & her with her head down looks bad on us" Again, my head was down due to my reaction to my date. That is it. They did not say to ME "Are you ok? Are you sick, or intoxicated? How well do you know this person? Are you ok to call a car?" This is just NOT the theatre family, for-the-people, artist community I'm familiar with, and most importantly I'm scared for any other girl that goes there while...
Read moreThis was our first time at Zanies Chicago. We went for the Sunday (7th show of the sold out weekend) to see Zoltan Kaszas.
The whole night was great. We ore-ordered VIP seating, so we literally sat at the foot of thr stage, we'll worth it!
The server we has was so nice and on top of things. For drinks, we had Sessions THC infused blackberry lemon seltzer. They were delicious, and I don't like seltzers. But... they gave me dry mouth, and made me thirsty. So... I drank 4 last night! Haha. I felt great. Partner got a pretzel she loved and I got a cheese pizza. Very reasonably priced and delicious
The first opener/MC was Neeraj (Neeraj Srinivasan) aka @MyNipsDontLie on Instagram. He almost stole the show, he was so funny!
There were 2 more openers, not as funny. But both very different and funny.
Then came Zoltan, he was incredible. I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time! We got the pleasure of meeting and talking to him after. He was so very nice and signed a poster we bought, so cool! Thanks Zoltan!
Great venue, great staff, great food drink, great night@ buy the VIP seats.
*Pro tip: Use spot hero to prepay for parking basically next door to Zanies. It was only $16 for the night and they had an...
Read moreCame here solo for the Troy Bond show. I appreciate the staff putting me at the aisle seat. I use bathroom frequently and since I was by myself made it less awkward when groups came in. It is a cozy venue and the seating is snug. Come early for better seats. There were two girls that came later and kept hassling the staff and waitress Brit for "better" seats. They came later in the night expecting seats and trying to sit in their "regular" seats in a SOLD OUT show. The staff and Brit were so nice and polite. Idk how they could say the same thing multiple times and keep their composure. It became distracting since anytime they would see a staff member they would ask them the same question. Its not until the first act was done that the staff thought of them and told them they can find another seat since there was no shows for the main act. They finally moved and was able to enjoy the show. I recommend the personal pizza and the $15 moscow mule they had. The tables are tiny so it makes it weird if you are eating and others so close next to you are not part of your group lol. It was pricy but was good. Drinks are pricey here so...
