I hadn't tried A&E in the months that I had been back in Chickasha. So, a visit was definitely in order. I can't say that they are a destination restaurant. But, if you're here, they are worth a visit.
I had their Hickory Burger. It was a juicy burger with just a bit too little BBQ sauce for my tastes. The real negative was the shredded lettuce. Pre-processed lettuce is convenient. But, it carries a food poisoning risk that is unnecessary in an establishment with this kind of business flow. They would be better shredding their own or using whole leaves. The fries are decent. In a town full of memorable fries, the standard fries are a missed opportunity.
The wife had the special of the day, Lemon Pepper Chicken Nuggets with green beans and mashed potatoes. The breading on the nuggets was almost impossibly light and airy. The seasoning was on point. The green beans were a surprise as they are normally a miss for most establishments. Instead, A&E spiced these so that they are memorable.
We ended with the brownie. It was the only dessert made in-house. So, we expected that it would be great. However, the edge was tough. Not in the crunchy edge way. It was tough in an overcooked way. The visual was wonderful. But, the drizzle added needed just a tiny bit more body from at least the caramel. It was rich and tasty though.
I look forward to trying other items on the menu. Hopefully, I can get this to a 5...
Read moreOk let me just start out with saying that I've been here several times and I've never had a bad experience. Ever. My glass has never run empty and my order has never been wrong. Well tonight, my husband took me here as a surprise for my birthday because he knows that this is my favorite restaurant, mind you we came down here from OKC, so it was a big deal for us. Our waitress, Cammi, sucked. That's the best word I can use to describe her. First she let my sweet tea go empty. She refilled it about 5 minutes later after she noticed it. It then went empty again, and this time the manager, who I believe was wearing an orange t shirt filled our drinks up. So thank you sir. You really seem to care about your customers and that makes me happy. What made me mad is that our waitress didn't care about us at all. She went out on the patio twice to chat with some customer and gave them a hug while our glasses were empty! My alfredo I ordered was supposed to be shrimp and she brought me chicken I sent it back. The rest of the food we ordered was delicious. And also, when its someone's birthday, acknowledge it. Dont just hand them their desert and walk off. I'm 22 years old and Its not a big deal for me to be sang to, but i like it it makes me feel good....
Read moreWalked in and got seated quickly, no one was in line. Asked if we wanted a table or booth, we said table, sat us right up front. Not a problem at all, waited 5-8 minutes for waitress to come. She took our order, brought our drinks with the chips and queso. Then we proceeded to wait 30 min for her to return (she did not) another server came and asked us if we wanted refills, we said no we wanted our check, the server went to our waitress and told her and we will waited another 10 min for our check. She was so busy worrying about the bar that she didn’t take care of the rest of her customers. We watched her go back and forth in the bar area, I get it, you make more money in the bar, if that is the case then maybe you should make the entire place a bar so everyone can be served. Mind you, there is a hostess that is walking around twiddling her thumbs and she could have helped the server out. Why was there not a server in the front and two in the back? Makes no sense! Will not ever go back. Still had to pay for the food that we didn’t get to finish because we had nothing to drink. 10 OUT 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Didn’t even apologize for the long wait time just...
