Excellent parlor! Been frequenting this one for years and years. Had a few birthdays and family get together. I long for the days when after a long hard day at work, when it’s too darn hot to cook as Chico temperatures soared up in the 110 degree range. Piling the family up into our 1982 Gremlin with sweat dripping from each of their tiny heads, as their faces gently planted on the huge panorama back window. Without air conditioning it was a blessing to have this neighborhood pizza parlor so close to home. This has been a staple to many of us old Chicoans. The place was packed with ball players galore, with new teams coming in with each new hour. Finding a seat was somewhat difficult at times, but always expected from us locals. The pizza was that yummy and the social hour was even more appealing to us parents raised up in the seventies. Handing the kids a bucket full of quarters in an exchange for a few minutes of bliss, was well worth my contributions of blood sweat and tears I donated to my work at Thriftys scooping ice cream the previous week. The kids played games for a half an hour before my peace was destroyed by the screaming of my youngest because he didn’t get his tickets he felt he deserved from a game he was Way too young to understand the concept of stopping the light on the ticket number that was the highest. Nevertheless at that moment as I sat in my chair with the cool air conditioner blowing my previously sweat soaked hair into a dry crispy texture, my inner self was smiling. The table of softball players drowning out the cry’s of a kid done wrong. I acted as if I was once again I was in the height of my hey days as a local college student with the only care in the world was pondering where we could party in the upcoming weekend, or if my tube was still holding the air after las weeks blackout. This nostalgic pizza parlor brings it all back...
Read moreBeing absolutely new to Chico, CA, and having a group of 9 people, 4 being kids 1, 5, 7 and 8 years old, I thought, incorrectly, that the whole group could eat pizza, and have a good time while being in the place. The place was booming loud at about 7 PM on a Thursday. The arcade, which was located very close to our table, was crammed with kids of all ages. The noise coming from the place made normal conversation literally impossible. The younger part of our group did not mind, of course, as long as money was provided so they could accumulate as many tickets their little hands could hold, blowing currency at a very alarming rate, the 1 year old the exception as he was having fun hitting every one with the formula milk of his baby bottle. Chaos reigning as the following food was ordered: XLarge Hawaian Pizza, $36+? Pizza had a nice dough, came with Canadian Bacon, Pineapple, Bacon bits, and cheese. Easy to eat, the problem was very little was consumed. 4 Stars. XLarge Combination Pizza, $36+?, Peppers, Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Onions, etc? This one was no big deal, dough soggy, lacking some quality preparation and ingredients. 3 Stars. 2 Sandwiches, Turkey and Ham, $8+? each. They came with Onion Rings and French Fries, respectively. Thumbs up on both according to the ones that ate them. 4 Stars. Salad Plate, $7? Like most salad bars. 3 Stars. Strawberry Margarita, $8? Expensive and not that great. 3 Stars. Sodas, $3 each, with refills. 3 Stars. Total was about $118 plus 15% gratuity. Very expensive, prices in Chico as high as they...
Read moreI would rate this lower , but don't have the ability to give below one star. We made a reservation in advance for a birthday party for 14 adults. We were informed at the beginning of the visit that there was no ice (it was 103 degrees today) and that there was a 15% gratuity. We asked if they could get more ice and were told that they were not allowed to. The party room temperature was also much warmer than the main dining room. The salad bar was a mess and there were no forks. Our group received metal forks as they were washed after asking, as they were also out of plastic forks. I asked for plates when the first pizza was brought out. We were assured that the server would being them to the table. After 15 minutes, I walked to the counter and asked for them and could tell that we were long forgotten. When we tried to discuss the poor service and other shortcomings we were told that we could talk to corporate. They also reaffirmed that we had to pay the gratuity, which we did. I love Round Table pizza, but have to say this is one of the worst dining experiences that I've had. I don't normally write reviews, but don't feel like I can overlook...
