I've only ordered twice through DoorDash, but I have been very pleased. First I want to say that both times the portions have been large. You will probably not leave this place hungry. The first time, I got the vegetarian combo. It came with black beans which were highly seasoned (probably a bit too salty for most, if I'm being honest, but I like very salty foods) and sprinkled with a white cheese, white rice which had what seems to be a frozen veggie mix, and a side of some sort of cabbage slaw which was pleasantly sweet--I personally would have liked more of this as I really enjoyed it. The mains were good but not spectacular, with the exception of the chili relleno, which had an off flavor that I couldn't quite place. Having never had a chili relleno before, I can't say if this one was less-than-perfectly executed or if I just don't like chili relleno, but given that I like all the ingredients separately I suspect the former. The second time, I got the Santa Fe chicken chimichanga, which came covered in a delicious poblano queso dip. The rice this time was yellow rather than white, but with the same frozen veggie mix. The beans were refried rather than whole black beans, with what seemed like cheddar on top. They both seemed your standard offerings, good (especially the beans) but nothing to write home about. And instead of a sweet cabbage slaw, there was a side of lettuce and pico de gallo which contrasted wonderfully with the richness of the chimichanga. The combination of all the foods in this meal was very good. There were also sides of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole, but I only ate the guacamole, which was good. Overall, I enjoyed my food (more the second time than the first) and would highly recommend...
Read moreLong time customers of Frontera in my family, and we are very disappointed in how downhill this location has gone in quality of food.
We ordered two Vegetarian Garden Fresco Burritos, Street Tacos, the Fajita Burrito with Steak, and some sides of guacamole. We spent $97 on this takeout order.
-The Vegetarian Garden Fresco Burritos were awful. Frontera advertises "sauteed vegetables", which we were shocked to see entailed broccoli, carrots, (one random pickle chip??), and peas. This did not resemble a Mexican dish at all. The "red sauce" tasted like tomato sauce, again, not at all matching what one would expect from a Mexican dish. The burrito was extremely soggy and completely covered in sauce–it is not just on the inside but rather on the entire dish. The rice was very undercooked, and the mix of vegetables threw off the taste of both burritos. We were both very disappointed, and wish there had been more transparency on what "sauteed vegetables" entailed as we would not have ordered this knowing it was broccoli, carrots, peas, and a pickle. -The Guacamole was brown. It was 5PM when I picked up our order, it's not like we ordered an hour before closing. -The Fajita Burrito was soggy and very under-seasoned. -The Street Tacos had undercooked chicken, and, again, random green beans thrown in?? We have purchased the Street Tacos from Frontera prior to this and never had green beans in there. Again, it felt very untraditional for a Mexican dish and the quality was very downhill from what we remember over the years as loyal customers.
I would recommend the Springfield location alternatively or a different Mexican...
Read moreAfter all the hype, I finally try a Frontera Grill, and it was a joke!
No menus were offered, nor was it made aware to us that we had to view it online. That would have been a good idea BECAUSE SOME OF US DIDN'T BRING A PHONE IN. So we eventually played pass the phone, which was too time consuming to read because it listed one meal at a time in a long continuous list. So I insisted that we be given handheld menus, and suggested most places now had paper menus. SURPRISE, we were handed paper menus . . . that had the tiniest print I had ever seen, a couple people at the table we're completely unable to read the menu.
No kids menu was acknowledged or offered for the 4 year old, even after mentioning it twice. Third time and an aggravated tone was the charm.
No eating utensils or napkins were given, we had to ask for some.
My chicken quesadillas were inedible, completely charred and grizzly.
The kids chicken tenders were over cooked and too hard for her to eat. There WERE plenty of fries though.
Unbeknownst to us, even though we were told it would be a 35 minute wait, and they knocked it down to 20 minutes, they were scheduled to close in less than an hour, WHEN WE ARRIVED.
There's so much more I can say, but I just don't have the time here.
I'll never bring family there again, nor will I ever go back.
Regarding your response: Why would I? It was seriously a terrible experience and I brought out if town family, it was...
