Today was the first visit to Hometown Hibachi. I have to say the experience was positive. After ordering it only took about 10 minutes to get my food. I ordered the steak hibachi ($10) and the amount of food you get is amazing. I was only able to eat about half of what I was given, you see the other half. I would recommend this place to others for sure. I will be eating here more in the future! First post was 4 stars....
Today my friends and I went to Hometown Hibachi for lunch. Going to have to say the experience was not like the last one. I ordered shrimp hibachi with noodles and was brought rice. The waitress went back and had some noodles made for me. From the photo, you can tell what it looked like when I got my food with the noodles finally. The waitress came back with a plate of noodles and sat it in front of me then walked away. I asked her to combine all the food items I had ordered. She went to the back and it looked like they just dumped the vegetables and shrimp on the noodles and served it to me. In NO way did it look like it did with the rice. The service was not good today sadly, although the food was pretty good. As you can tell by the 2nd and 3rd photos, 1 was before....the other after. Based on what I have said, lost a...
Read moreLet me start off with the good:
The food tastes great! We have soup, salad, chicken, salmon, fried rice, yum yum sauce and noodles. Incredible flavors.
The portion sizes are HUGE. You really get your money's worth.
The service is fantastic.
Now for the not so good:
The food rice and noodles were extremely salty. I think the salt could be cut in half and it would still be salty enough to maintain that amazing flavor profile.
The salad came with what was clearly packaged bacon bits and croutons. Now sure, we didn't come here for health reasons, so I won't get into the details of packaged bacon bits. However, it does give the salad a very cheap feel.
When we walked into the door and could smell the tables. It smelled like dirty cleaning water. That smell is typically associated with bacteria build up. That was off-putting.
This is a neutral point. The veggies were crispy (see picture of zucchini). I know some people prefer that. We typically prefer our veggies softer and cooked a little bit longer. They were still good.
Overall it was a...
Read moreI got the hibachi chicken, egg yolk sauce, and crab rangoon to go. I wish I had taken a picture of my food before I served it to my daughter and I. The egg yolk sauce especially was some kind of insane slimy Velveeta cheese texture? I was expecting an egg?? and it looked like some alien glop spooned with a ladle out of a mysterious bucket. The rice tasted like burnt soy sauce, the giant carrot slices were basically raw and there were also mushy peas?? The clear soup was so garlicky it was inedible, like a cup of chicken stock with a quarter cup of minced garlic in a single bowl with some green onions. Honestly food does not usually upset me this much!! Hands down THE BEST authentic hibachi in town is HIBACHI EXPRESS near Five Below. I guess this place is just trendy like everything else in downtown Chillicothe that everyone is obsessed with. Maybe their other items or sushi are good, but this was just extremely disappointing, especially...
