New System Bakery — Restaurant in Chillicothe

EXCELLENT!! Visited 10/16/24- My favorite bakery in Chillicothe. Living far away, it was my first time to visit here since they relocated a few years ago. Was so sad when their old location burned. This is New System back and better than ever. As soon as I walked in the door, the comforting, familiar, yummy fragrances burned in my memory from childhood greeted me like an old friend and I just stood there and breathed it in for a moment, blissful. My favorite Bismarcks were still as delicious as ever and everything looked so tempting. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was very clean. There are many places to sit and enjoy coffee and pastries and meet up with friends. It’s a cozy yet spacious environment. Convenient corner location close to downtown, Yoctangee park and neighborhoods. My only regret is needing to catch a flight and not having time to stay and enjoy it all for awhile. Not a fan at all. First complaints are the stairs and 2 doors you need to open and close with your arms full of donuts. 2nd set of complaints are no fry cakes, Empty long John's, and no jelly filled donuts. Third set of complaints are that there just isn't enough cinnamon in the rolls so they are plain and just doughy. I don't even really consider these donuts they are just various sweet breads. Staff were friendly, place was clean, and the only things all 11 of us liked were the glazed cinnamon roll, the Bavarian cream donuts, and the blueberry donuts. We all cut up everything and the 11 of us didn't even like them enough to finish a dozen donuts. When the 11 of us got 24 donuts from crispy cream the other day they were all eaten in 10...

I grew up eating this bakery, and I remember it as far back as I can remember. Coming home from school to a Devils Food Pie was such a treat. Since the change of location and staff, the quality has declined in a disappointing way. My parents, especially my dad, loved this bakery. They couldn't go to Chillicothe without going to New Systems. The cupcakes are now dense and taste stale. I'm not sure but they taste like they're frozen then dethawed. I know the recipes are supposedly the same, but the quality in our opinion has declined and the prices have exceeded the lack of quality. Very dissapointed we lost our...
