You go here for the atmosphere, not the food. A large group of us went here for dinner, been coming to Chincoteague for years. We do not understand why this place stays in business with the food quality the way it is. When they first opened, this place was on point. Last couple of years, not so much.
I saw they had smash burgers, so I thought let's give it a shot. When I went to order, they asked what I want on my smash burger and I said just make a smash burger. The response was it's just smashed patties and you put what you want on it. I said that's not a smash burger. They said yes it is, I said a smash burger is 1-2 or 3 patties smashed on your griddle, 2/3 slices of American cheese on top of pickles, lettuce, and hamburger sauce. Long story short, what I ended up getting was just a burger slightly charred with some kind of white cheese and pickles. I wouldn't recommend.
Our friends got wings, they were described as gummy and rubbery. Corn nuggets were ok, yum yum sauce was the best thing we got.
Hand cut fries were soggy, limp and under seasoned. You can tell they fry them once at high heat, the center isn't quite done so the moisture inside ruins any crispiness they are trying to get.
We stopped getting any BBQ from here years ago because the quality just went downhill, we all started making our own and realized how bad Woody's has become. Our fault for thinking some of their new menu items would be any better.
Sharks and Manders food truck down the road has WAY better fresh cut fries.
There's a smash burger food truck called Smash Bros up the street that makes actual smash burgers, they know what they are doing. Go there, and it's...
Read moreVisited Woody's on a Saturday evening with my family around 630pm. Parking was limited but we managed to find a spot . The business is a small trailer with picnic benches and hammocks shared with the other two businesses. There's a couple of games for the family to play such as corn-hole and ring toss.
I ordered the Woody's signature as well as a few kids meals. The Woody's signature was tasty and had a good contrast of the crunchy slaw and some of the burnt ends of the pulled pork. The BBQ sauce was tasty and sweet with a slight bite. The kids meals were good and had healthier alternatives. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer even though it wasn't on the menu list so kudos to the cool kids that run Woody's for making that accommodation.
Highly recommend Woody's for a chill spot. For the love of all that is holy, people, stop feeding the seagulls. They do unthinkable things while flying around and they are slick enough to snatched food from your hands while your head is turned, don't feed the seagulls. Technically you shouldn't be feeding any wildlife in the area, so...

Waited in line on a Tuesday night for, no kidding, 55 minutes just to order. There were only a dozen or so in front of us, how did it take so long? Another 35 minutes later our food came out missing two sides...glad we checked. All in all we sunk 90 minutes into TAKEOUT from a BBQ truck. Unbelievable! That's as long as I would have sat at a dine in restaurant pre-Covid.
Our food was a let down. Our sandwiches looked like they had been sat on, smushed and soggy. The pulled pork was pretty dry and the red sauce was mostly covering the outside of the bun instead of inside the sandwich. I had to go fishing for beans in my bean side, it was basically soup with a few drowned beans at the bottom. We spent 7.99 on a large fry and were awarded with a greasy pile of uncooked sopping wet potatoes. Cole slaw was just ok!
All of this by a staff that was not wearing any masks or gloves and a line of folks disregarding any semblance social distancing. Cool!
Woody, my dude, time to put the wheels back on the trailer...
