If you are looking for fine dining in the Chincoteague Island area, this restaurant definitely fits the bill. It is a rare gem amongst the many prevalent outdoor food truck dining eateries on the island. (Something I still don’t really get given the high mosquito population of the area) Despite calling mid day on a Thursday before a holiday weekend, the staff was able to find a 7pm reservation slot for our party of six. We arrived a few minutes before and were promptly seated at our creek side window table by the very courteous staff. The decor was very on point; lightly beach themed but not over the top. The dining room felt open and spacious with half height walls in some places to give a sense of per table privacy between larger groups. There was just the right amount of tables to give the dining room the right feel of comfortable ambience without feeling crowded in or lost in a sea of tables. The views out the windows were amazingly picturesque, especially when dining during sunset hours. We did not have time to check out the outdoor dining area unfortunately, but plan to in the future. After perusing the menu and ordering drinks and an appetizer of the day (Balsamic glazed Brussel sprouts; absolutely delicious!) we placed our main entree orders. I chose a daily special of Bourbon Glazed Atlantic Salmon paired with Broiled Scallops. I think the picture speaks for itself; IMO, for fine dining, the taste and portion size were about as perfect as can be. It’s been three days, and I can still remember the flavor and texture of both the scallops and the salmon; to me this speaks volumes of the quality of a prepared food. Of note, the children’s portions were very generous. My daughter ordered the fried clam strip kids meal, and was inundated with a plate that would eventually leave leftovers. My son ordered the chicken tender meal, which again had huge portions; four very large strips that could easily total to a whole chicken breast in weight. (He made it through two and maybe two bites into the third and was stuffed) My wife had an order of crab cakes, and were easily the freshest and tastiest we ever had. (Yes I stole a bite or two) The flavor and texture of the Crab Imperial used was perfection, and this is said after being in town and eating piles of crab all over for a whole week. (Including those cooked moments after being caught off a pier) I unfortunately did not get pictures of the tenders or crab cakes before they were feast upon, but there may be some posted by other reviewers. Lastly, the staff was professional and courteous, and also very personable. Aside from the usual duties of ordering and serving, upon departing when pointing out some wall decorations we liked to each other, the staff (owner?) mentioned where they were bought and struck up a short conversation about it and the travels involved, which happened to be near our neck of the woods. This made for a very personal touch and is rare in many businesses, but make one stand out greatly. (I am always proud to patron and support these types of family run businesses and I hope you strive too also) As I mentioned, if you are looking for fine dining on the island, this will hit the spot. The added charm of the scenery, the excellence of the staff, and the skill of the cooks in the kitchen made this an absolute win for us and we look forward to returning during our next trip into town.

Yes! Yes! Yes! It took 8 nights for me to find a restaurant that gave me the delicious food I was expecting for the money I was paying. Don't bother going to AJ's on the Creek across the street from here. Come here! The food was superb. I ordered the Chincoteague Oysters which came with 2 sides. I got a salad with Parmesean Pepper dressing and coleslaw. They also brought out a mini loaf of bread. The bread was very good. Soft and warm just the way it should be and airy. Yum! The salad was standard fair and the dressing was good. The coleslaw was fair. Adding pepper to it made up for what it was lacking. The stars of the show....were amazing! The breading was well seasoned and not too thick. It didn't mask the oysters at all but added great flavor. Could it get any better? Why yes it could! After having my delectable meal, I was in the mood for some dessert. I order some Bumble Pie (that's pie with a mix of berries and rhubarb. And even though I thought my oysters were delectable, the pie was out of this world good! It was the best finish I could ask for.

Solid seafood joint with a lovely view. Get the Seafood Sampler Platter (pic attached). It comes with crab, fish, lobster, shrimp, scallops, oysters and clams (I subbed out the oysters and clams for more shrimp and crabs though). You can order it boiled or friend but boiled is 100% the way to go here. The French Onion Soup was surprisingly good too! And the bread / butter they serve is fresh and delightful. The coleslaw is a sugar bomb but super delicious. The fries are average. BBQ bacon shrimp appetizer isn't bad and the crab balls are a little disappointing but not terrible (too much breading). If you can snag a seat outside it's right on a creak overlooking the marsh and it's beautiful at sunset and into nightfall (pic attached) It's a limited beer selecton but they have 1-2 locals in bottles. Nothing special about the cocktails but the wine selection isn't bad. Expect to spend $40 a plate with tip but leave super happy.

Despite being sat next to some not-so-pleasant guests, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Village Restaurant. We got the Ahi Tuna to start (encrusted with sesame seeds and flash-blackened and served over a bed of seaweed salad) which was delicious. For our entrees we both ordered the Surf and Turf - the steak was cooked to order (medium rare) but my lobster was overcooked and mushy (my date's was cooked well though; both were fresh). The Crab Imperial was probably my favorite item of the three - it wasn't lump but there weren't any fillers either. I also enjoyed that they served the Surf and Turf with a few onion rings as a nice sort of edible garnish. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating - even though a few of the guests were rude while waiting for their tables/reservations (and our accompanying table mates, not withstanding). I would definitely return to this place next time I'm in town.

One of the highlights to our visit to Chincoteague Island in Virginia was our dinner at The Village. My daughter and her family came with us so we were able to sample a wide variety of the food. Favorites were the clam strips, shrimp (the coconut shrimp was particularly good) and the crab cakes. The Mahi Mahi was a little bland (should've gone with the blackened option) and the fried oysters were good but just good. Portions were nice sized with good tasting sides. Fresh bread was served at the beginning, still warm and soft. We had a friendly, helpful waitress - very conscientious. The atmosphere was comfortable and family friendly. The pricing was moderate, especially for a seafood experience. We all enjoyed it, from the 7 year old twins to the old people on the other end of the table!
