Donny's Cafe — Restaurant in Chula Vista

I've been coming to Donny's Cafe for a little under a year now, and I'll have to say... This coffee shop is MUCH, MUCH MORE than a place to get coffee or a breakfast sandwich or snack. It's like a community hub where friendly neighbors, cyclists, business people, college/high school students, Police Officers and Firemen, etc. come to grab a cup of java, relax at Donny's comfortable outdoor patio or lounge inside in his nice cozy coffee shop. The coffee's Delicious, the food is outstanding, and that's not even the best part. The customer service and family friendly hospitality is priceless! It's kind of like a non-alcoholic "Cheers" sitcom feeling where everyone knows you're name :) If you've stopped in and personally met the owner, Donny, I guarantee he'll know your name the next time you patronize his quaint little coffee shop. His Avocado Toast sandwich is to die for! I always go for a medium-size Flat White (similar to a latte with less microfoam and a higher proportion of coffee to milk) w/ Coconut Milk and no one makes it with the love & detail that Donny puts into my drink. I've been eating at Donny's for years since I was in Community College. Seeing as they open early, it's perfect to have a moment of relaxation before and after tackling a hectic school day. The prices are not fast food cheap but you're not paying for fast food quality--quite the contrary instead you'll find sandwiches (for example) of various fine breads, cheeses, and meats. My favorite most of the time are bagel sandwiches with bacon, egg, and cheese (I'm partial to breakfast items so there's that). To pair with my sandwiches or if I just want a pick-me-up I grab a hot cup of coffee, specifically the Blue Sky blend, a blend by Cafe Moto which powers Donny's caffeinated assortment. Friends don't let friends get Pike Blend. Too hot out? Frosty coffee drinks you can have. Tea person? Certainly you'll find some. Want something sweet? A nice assortment of gelato is available too! All in all, Donny's operated by a small crew (often times just Donny himself) is a spot I love to come back to when I can, even if hectic classes...

I visited here for the first time on 7/2/2019. It is tucked into a nice quiet spot in Bonita. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I was quickly greeted with a salutation and a smile upon my arrival. I had the Bacon, Egg, Cheese breakfast bagel on sesame and added avocado. It was delicious. I had the dark coffee with creme and that was smooth. Very positive atmosphere. I met Donny, who I assume is the owner. Super nice and friendly. I am not a religious person, so I only mention this so others are aware, this place seems to have a strong christian faith ambiance.
