Came in to eat tonight and was expecting good things. I'm sorry to say that wasn't what I got. Service wasn't good the older woman seemed to be in a bad mood (maybe because of the parade going on outside). The guy who attended us was ok with his service nothing really to complain about him. Now down to the food. We ordered a queso fundido, pozole, machaca plate, and chicken nuggets with fries. The queso fundido was ordered while ordering the drinks at the beginning, and it was the last item to arrive to the table. It's suppose to be an appetizer not a dessert. The machaca plate; I wasn't asked which kind of tortillas I wanted if maíz or harina. But at least they brought some when receiving the plate. It lacked taste and seemed to not have any salt on it. It was mainly egg and hardly any meat. Very bland plate. Rice and frijoles were not the best not the worst. The pozole plate was bad from just looking at it. It looked like they used food coloring instead of using the correct sauces. Upon tasting the pozole it was confirmed the taste wasn't there. Overall I would much rather go to the taco shop across the street which has really good food. I had heard advertisement about this place so that's why I wanted to try it. I'll never return here and if they keep using food coloring and expecting people to believe they actually use sauces I'm sure they won't last much longer. I don't tend to complain about places but the food coloring thing is just horrible. I might of not said anything if they were at least being really polite and friendly but that didn't...

I'm rating two stars because overall my experience was ok. Definitely nothing spectacular for me to wow about. Food was flavorful, which is what's expected when eating out. A few hiccups: My wife ordered one taco and they brought her the whole meal, menu stated tacos came with guacamole, but they served a single avocado slice & rice was room temperature, not warm at all. As for my meal, same issue with the rice & my Azteca Guarache was supposed to come with a house made tomato sauce that wasn't served. As for drinks, I ordered a Corona but immediately corrected myself to Pacifico & my wife a XX. They served us a Corona & Pacifico.

I asked for a menu just to make sure I hadn't missed something myself & was later approached & asked if I had a menu concern. I said, "Yes, I was curious about the tomato sauce that was supposed to come with my Guarache." She proceeded to inform me it was on there, that it was the diced tomatoes with onion & cilantro. I said, "That's Pico de Gallo. The menu says there's a tomato salsa that comes with it." She tells me, "Oh yes, the salsa. It use to come on it, but people didn't like it so we stopped adding it, but we just didn't take it off the menu." I didn't bother with pursuing any further conversation thereafter.

Check was $43.11 on what was supposed to be two beers, one meal & one taco. We didn't mention the taco meal situation as we don't believe in throwing away food, so we just paid instead.

We will not...

Waitress was more at the bar side trying to serve a guy his beers and flirting than helping us out with our table. What's described on the menu is not what you actually get. We asked for guacamole dip they say they didn't have it. We ask for green salsa they supposably didn't have it. So We ate the chips with the red watery salsa they serve. We ordered omelet plate only came with rice and beans they ran out of the potatoes. We wanted single tacos they couldn't do it you had to get the combo plate with 3 tacos on it. Like I said I asked for green salsa and they supposably didn't have any for the chips but had some for my food. We where done we wanted desserts and asked for flan They ran out because they've been super busy the passed 2 days but the place was empty and it was Wednesdays how is a Monday or Tuesday going to be busier than Friday or the weekend. I told her I didn't have any money to pay the bill joking around but told me they have a lot of dishes to clean. Never going back again went there about a year ago and it was different server was awesome and food was on point and at that time they had everything we had asked for the way we asked for it. I don't know what happened but you guys...

El comal restaurant what's a really good place for me and my wife. We got there and they took care of us right the way. The waitress was awesome, the service was perfect and all and all everything was very good. The one thing you have to keep in mind is that you have to park at the back and you have to pay for parking. The price was .25 per hour. What made it very nice is that when we placed the order our waitres was always checking on us and she always made sure that we had chips and salsa as well as once the food was served that nothing was missing. They have plates for everyone, they have good food little kids as well as for adults. There is a handicap entrance upfront, they have chairs for little kids and also they serve cocktails. They have good desserts and very spicy and none spicy food. My wife and I really enjoyed the environment, service and food, we will come back another day. Did I also mentioned that they are right in 3rd Ave in Chula Vista close to ask the Chula Vista down town has to offer! Enjoy this place. P.S. the cook was awesome and the portions were big!

This is a great little restaurant in the heart of downtown Chula Vista, we were actually going to go next door to the grindhouse coffee shop, but we were mesmerized by the pictures of wonderful Mexican breakfast dishes! The ambiance is very warm with cute little adages on the walls. I enjoyed the machaca con huevos and my husband had the Chilaquiles con carne asada en salsa roja, and we shared a bowl of menudo. A bit much for two, but I had to try the menudo. I was not disappointed! The menudo was amazing, the broth was rich and hot, a good amount of tripe, although I would have liked more honeycomb tripe. The best for last, the cafe de la olla, so delicious and free refills to boot! Service was good, the elderly gentleman is very funny and welcoming and seems quite attentive. It is so nice to see downtown Chula Vista thriving on a Sunday morning.

There’s definitely a lot of room for growth. My experience here was not what I expected first walked in there was a unique smell in the restaurant personal was great customer service wise. I asked for a caldo de pollo which they had. My caldo looked great image wise the soup it’s self tasted good, here comes the bad chicken was chewy like gum which I thought was wire decided not to eat it, from the vegetables the potatoes where not cooked all the way as you can see in the pictures nor the carrots they only vegetable that was cooked all the way was the squash caldo came with a small cup of rice and no tortillas or chip to enjoy it. And to top it all of it was 12 dollars for some thing I honestly think should of been 8-9 dollars.
