Don Pedro Taco Shop — Restaurant in Chula Vista

I've been coming here for 20+ years and always had a good experience. But the last two times I've ordered from there it's been terrible. The first time food was missing from my family's order. The food was not good tasting either which was embarrassing because I had told my family who haven't tried it before that they had good food. Had to call in to get it fixed and had to pick it up. The second time I ordered carne asada chips with no pico and sour cream on the side. To my surprise the order was bare and had more chips than asada, there was no guacamole despite the receipt showing what I asked for. I called to find out if it came with guacamole, they said it did. I told them my order was incorrect that there was none. She spoke with the cook and they said it's "under the meat". Again I told them there was no guacamole and there was more chips than anything. So they offered to remake my order, fine, I get there show them that I wasn't lying about it. They just said "oh ok" , not a sorry for making you come back again or sorry for charging $12 for less than a cup full of asada and cheese and a whole bag of tortilla chips. Gave me my order and I left. Now I'm not looking to get something for free but I didn't even get an apology. Which bothers me because if you make a mistake at least apologize for the inconvenience or at least try not to make the customer sound stupid especially when the restaurant got the order wrong in the first place. It's a hit and miss, the quality has definitely gone down while the prices have gone up for hardly what your paying for. Our family have been going to Don Pedro's for lunch and dinner for over 15 years!!! The quality of food is always consistent and the prices are reasonable. My favorite that they don't have the menu but they can make is the chile relleno burrito!!! I asked him also to include a little bit of rice in it and it is the best chile relleno burrito I have ever tasted no place in South Bay!!! If you like your 5 rolled tacos this place is really good and everything that goes along with it I like the Flying Saucer I like the carne asada fries and which also can be ordered half order, my son's favorite is the California Burrito the proportions are really good!! If you like traditional Mexican food this is the place to eat! We have taken our relatives who are from out of town and they love the food there many other friends we referred or even business associates and everyone that goes there loves her food comes out the quality. , the location of the Taco Shop is on the corner of 3rd and I believe F Street and is conveniently located in the center of downtown Chula Vista! This place has great food but to be honest there service SUCKS miserably. They hardly make a good impression when you walk in . They rather poor hot sauce in lil cups and wipe tables than to greet you and serve you. And they dont know english very well (i really dont mind its nice to have people try ) but a language isnt a excuse for good service. Also They are very greedy with hot sauce! And when you ask for more they some times accuse you of just throwing them away. They dont know the prices to there own food menu !!! You have to wait for them to charge you before getting your total , so ordering something new over the phone isnt a great idea.. the ederly ladies working here give the place the feeling that its your moms kitchen.
