Horrible experience. No one was standing at the front door to greet customers on a Friday evening. I took a seat on their uncomfortable bar stools, elbows close, with intentions to still experience & support this place. It wasn't busy at all that evening. But the bartender was busy, or at least appeared preoccupied with phone/Uber eats calls or other duties, but she finally asked if I wanted a menu. After several more minutes, she never returned to ask if I'd like to place an order or if I wanted a drink. Finally, another lady more observant saw that I had nothing in front of me, came from the back and kindly put in my food order. I asked if she had a cocktail menu and she kindly said "No we don't at the moment" so I requested a beer. She was pleasant. I just didn't get the impression that the busy bartender was interested in making drinks. I also noticed a table with 2 ladies seated at a booth before I arrived, but had not been serviced as well by anyone. They looked impatient. The bartender finally spoke to them from behind the bar and said that they could come up & place there orders, at the bar (pretty much get up and come to ME) Apparently No one told them the "Catch Me if you Can" order procedures. After 15mnts, my food finally came out hot. I decided to try their Tilapia platter w/2sides. It came, Boxed up in a to- go tray? with the smallest, cheapest, bent up utensils I had ever seen, then the bartender simultaneously slid me the card machine. I asked "Why was I receiving my food, to go? and my bill so fast?" Especially If I still had intentions to try a cocktail. She replied that we do the transactions separate? or something to that effect. At this point, I was just hungry, and I just wanted to eat. I unpacked my food at the bar table. The fish was quite salty, and very rubbery and tasted of recylced oil with a thin piece of bread underneath. I could smell the generic cheese blend loaded in the macaroni dumped messy & smashed in the small container. The cabbage was soggy & bland. By the time I picked thru the meal, the other ladies still had not received their food. I heard them ask how much longer? and how long they had already waited. I'm from this city and I lived near the Pleasant Ridge area for years, so there are good memories of how nice that building is and how Wonderful the establishment use to be pre Covd & what the previous owner invested. It's a very Nice place overall esthetically. Respectfully & honestly. ILL SAY IT- ❤️ DO BETTER- SERVE BETTER FOOD. TRAIN your EMPLOYEES. And Break the Stereotype and perhaps patrons will return. *Hopefully others experiences won't be as disappointing as what I encountered...
Read moreI would like to start this reveiw by saying, I was hoping for better by a black ran establishment. So we and my friend came here yesterday after veiwing reveiws on Insta and Tiktok. We drove from the Dayton Mall area all the way out there and were very excited because the food looked awesome..... NOT AT ALL WHAT WE GOT!!! The first red flag was the smell of burnt grease, which should have sent us running, but no, we tried not to judge too hastily. After we were seated. Our order was taken by a kind young lady who kept reiterating that she was new after asking us multiple times what we ordered. I guess she was trying to be efficient. After our order was taken, we settled in talking and laughing, waiting on our food, 10 min, 20 min, almost 30 minutes pass, and we become concerned. Although stated at the front door, food is made to order, after 30 minutes, a person can get antsey. After be asked again by our waitress what we ordered, we overheard an exchange between her and another coworker about what seemed to be a mix up, our order was boxed as a carryout and I was even the order that was brought to our table! We didn't get the right drinks we ordered and they were way too sweet, we ordered the fish and fries, the fish was tough and and tasted like old grease, the mac and cheese was bland, the only thing that was edible to some degree was the potatoes and onions and even they had an off taste, I orderd the peach cobbler and it tasted like mashed baby food. My friend didn't like any of her food, and she had to water down her drink to make it feasible. After that disappointment, it was time to cash out, which was like pulling teeth! The young man kept talling my order incorrectly, and although it was a little over 20 bucks, I felt bamboozled!! Im so sorry to say we will not be returning!! Upon leaving 20 minutes later, my friend and I both started having stomach aches!!! I pride myself on being a patron to black businesses, but this one definitely was disappointing! In a lighter note, they had some good music, and they establishment would be cute in the...
Read moreThe bone in wings and seasoned fries here are great! The restaurant is nice indoors and out. Artsy and quirky fun aesthetic.
We did enjoy the food. Speed is a little slow while service leaves a lot to be desired. I found myself feeling like the staff were taking their time rather than focusing on a faster customer experience. Primarily during our visit it seemed like takeout is more popular here, so that may have been their main focus instead of the dine in experience.
The place was clean, people were friendly, ample seating inside and out, they take credit card and tap to pay.
Oddly, the menu lists about 12 sides that are all on the expensive side and states that they rotate daily, but doesn’t specify what rotates or how. Of the 12, they had 3 sides available during our visit, none of which were those listed that looked great to try.
I think that with tweaking, this business could be better, but it needs work on the dine in experience and pricing/availability aspects. Add some combo deals with sides to sell more and maybe consider focusing on fixed days where specific sides are always available or decrease the list size overall to have them always all available and focus on the best sellers only.
They do have a full bar right now and are working on a draft system eventually for beers I’m told. One of the few places for dinner open later in...
