Nothing super egregious happened during our visit, but it's unlikely we would go back to this establishment and would only cautiously recommend it to anyone else. When our waitress initially approached us, she gave us the same recommendations the hostess just had, but we went ahead and ordered edamame anyways. My partner has celiacs so we asked if they had gluten free soy sauce, and the waitress said yes and immediately turned around to put in our appetizer without having asked us any questions about drinks. We then had to stop our server to ask her if we could place a drink order, and the beverages were rather foul - the kind of attempt at elevated cocktails that just ends up tasting gross. I had the Shipwreck and it left a filmy feeling on my teeth (maybe the tamarind? I'm admittedly not super familiar with the ingredient) and my partner had the dragon's milk which tasted like the bartender dropped the whole pepper shaker in it. We also had to stop our server again for the gluten free soy sauce she never brought us, despite her having seemingly stopped short of taking our drink order to turn around and grab it. When we asked her again, she responded as if it was a new request (no apology for having forgotten it the first time). The water tasted like chlorine or some cleaning-type chemical, and I honestly would have preferred drinking from the garden hose. Our server did go ahead and she got me a water from the bar tap which tasted normal. The edamame was a little hard, but the food was generally okay. The bulgogi was rather expensive for the serving size, although the half price sushi was a fair bargain. Ultimately though, the meal was unenjoyable between the service,...
Read moreI call two days before to make a reservation for 13 people, and they told me they didn’t make reservations, but if I go the same day, they can have the table ready for the time I need it.
I arrived, and they decide to divide my guests into two different tables (because of covid), but they never let me know when I went that day we need to sit separately. I got there, and they showed me the tables, and I asked the waiter if we can sit together, but she said no. I told her it was fine if we need it to wait so we can sit in a part of the restaurant where there was the chance that we can all sit together. She said she would try to ask the manager. This the worst part; the manager came with even say hi and told me there was no chance to do that. I tried to let her know if there is any chance to try to have us together, but she said literally and in a rude way: “I will not give you the possibility to sitting all together.”
This was very disappointing, it was my birthday, she treated me very rude, so I decided to leave with my 12 guests and choose another restaurant.
The lesson for me it’s there are always ways to say things, maybe she was right, but there is always a way to treat the customer well and not make it feel that is no chance for her/him to come back to...
Read moreWe ordered sushi and it was okay. The taste is okay but how the sushi was rolled was not that nice. But compared to all the sushi places I visited in Cincinnati it is the best. And for the price it is good because all sushi is half price. I don't expect much from sushi that is half prices. The atmosphere is really beautiful. They have many places and a nice interior. The service is okay as well. They are friendly and helpful. The only thing I really did not like was that the service was not attentive and a bit lazy. We finished our meal and on the table were a lot of empty plates. The services went past us a lot of time and did not bother to clean our table. There were two waitresses standing next to our table and saw that we finished our meal but did not clean the table. Instead they talk to each other. I even organised all the dishes for them to pick it up easier but still nothing happened. One of them took our order for desserts later and brought it to us but still did not clean the table. We had to have our dessert next to our finished plates from the main course. They only cleaned the table after I had to ask them to do so.
Maybe that is just my opinion but that is why I give Kanji...
