I find that in fusion restaurants, the true elements of specific cuisines get lost in the mix. I wanted to love Rosewood, I did. To be fair, I've spent 5 months in Thailand, so my standards are high. We all had soup to start. I had the coconut soup, one of my favorite Thai dishes. It was overly creamy, very thick, and quite bland. I had ordered one sushi roll, to share with my son's gf, requested it to come out first, before our meal. So, our dinners finally come out, the food runner is auctioning off our food. Food runners should be delivering food to the right seat, not calling it out, especially in a restaurant that has plate prices in the $30 range. I said, oh but we didn't get our sushi yet. He goes over and gets it from the sushi guy, with no apology on the delay. Our actual server is clueless that this has even happened, didn't acknowledge it at all. I place my dinner off to the side to have my bear roll, honestly the highlight of my entire evening, it was divine! Now back to my stuffed flounder, everything is ice cold. The flounder tasted very fishy, possibly not fresh, or not rinsed properly before cooking. It was very dry and crusty, and all the "stuffing" was just ice cold. The fish is really rolled around all the other ingredients. The asparagus was greasy and the seasoning was a little off, completely unpalatable rice, dry, and cold. So, I can't eat my dinner, but not trying to send it back, I just set it to the side and ask the server to take it away. The manager stopped by later to ask if everything was ok, but didn't address me directly, to ask ME why I didn't eat my food. My son and I have both worked in food service, we don't make ugly scenes or send food back, so he just paid for everything and called it a day. And then I still needed dinner, haha! We did enjoy the pear martini and the tropical rum drink. The server seemed like she knew we weren't really that happy, but she didn't have the skills or confidence to try to make it right, nervously asking us three times if we needed our bill split. If I had to guess, I would say she was really just concerned I would pay separately and stiff her. Even if food and service are lacking, we always tip appropriately. To sum it up, it was a fairly expensive night out for a lackluster experience. Can't say I would come back if ever in Cincinnati again.

Read moreWe came here for a birthday party and the atmosphere was great, but unfortunately the service was short of great. There were 5 tables, about 27 people in total. Everyone ordered food at the same time (including our table). That said, everyone’s food came out at the same time, except ours. We sat and waited as we understand a large party isn’t always to tend to. As an hour passed and people were finishing up, we still had yet to receive our food. I walked up to the bar where our waiter, Minos, was behind politely asking what the status was on our food. In response I received “it should be right out”. Only a few seconds later, as I came to find out, someone else at our table asked as well, the shirt blonde waitress came saying there was an issue with our order, to my understanding, It never got sent in as I can only assume.
We received our check with no discount, basically having to beg to make the wrong right, in which seemed like pulling teeth. Finally, we received $8 off our check.
I typically don’t complain, but the main waiter who had messed up the order, it would’ve went a long way to take accountability and own the mistake.
It is what it is, I paid my bill and won’t be back. Other than that incident, it would’ve been a great...
Read moreSeating was left to be desired as my partner and I were seated at a very slim (practically shoulder-width) and long (across one another) table which made it extremely difficult just to listen let alone talk to my partner right in front of me. This would have been fine if we weren't so close to other patrons that I was able to hear the people on my left and right better than I could my partner in front of me.
Food was decent but not due to the chefs inexperience - you could tell that this was Oakley Fish House due to the expertise of the seafood cooked but the menu was not a Thai based one. We went in expecting much more of a Thai influence but was a bit disappointed by the traditional Fish House menu that seemed to adapt simple dishes to try to make them more Thai. For example salmon was great but they just added a bowl of rice on the side.
Overall some aspects were cooked well (seafood) but other aspects felt half-hearted (brussel sprouts confit was practically steamed) but my largest gripe was the ambiance and seating.
If you're looking for a Thai restaurant - look elsewhere, but if you're looking for seafood with some decent pricing options and appetizers Rosewood is...
