For a Thai restaurant, I found the food to be rather bland and somewhat lacking. I suppose this is for the demographic that wants an American version of Thai.
The meat wasn't marinated and didn't absorb any of the flavors of the sauce... it seems as though they have the proteins set aside and just add the plain protein to whatever type of sauce/dish you order.
While they do use basil, it seemed like a few other key Thai flavors were either missing entirely or in such small quantities that I couldn't taste them: no galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, or fish sauce (*their menu does say the curry has fish sauce, but I ordered basil chicken and it didn't seem to have that.)
The "Thai spicy" level was not spicy at all. While I understand that not all dishes have heat, if it is supposed to have hot chili paste and isn't hot... one wonders.
Otherwise, the portion sizes were generous and the ingredients that they did use were fresh and of good quality, but this restaurant just isn't for me. I suppose I should have been a bit more wary, as the menu also includes some American Chinese items such as "Orange Chicken" and "General Tso"...

After only our first visit, the owner Sue remembered us and exhibits hospitality and sincere care for her patrons. Sweet, Spicy, Savory, Sour, and all that Thai Cuisine has to offer your tastebuds on a Thai Getaway. Kapunkap Thai...
Read moreI would describe this recently opened addition to Oakley's food scene as a Thai fusion restaurant. There's a fair bit of Japanese influence, as well as a bit of Vietnamese and even a little Indian. We all three got lunch boxes plus a gyoza appetizer. One of our party liked the gyoza that I ordered so much that he ordered another portion. The gyoza were deep fried (true Japanese gyoza are pan fried on one side only and almost always pork), but these chicken dumplings were very tasty and the pad thai with beef that I had...
