Alias Coffee in downtown Albany is a wonderful discovery for coffee lovers and remote workers alike. The space is large and thoughtfully divided into different sections — from comfy sofas and poufs to a long communal table — allowing guests to choose the vibe that suits them best. Whether you’re here for focused work or casual relaxation, the layout makes it easy to settle in.

The coffee itself is excellent. We ordered a cortado and a latte, both prepared with care and served promptly. The staff is friendly and professional, maintaining a warm atmosphere without being intrusive. Their efficiency and positive attitude add to the overall experience, making you feel welcome whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor.

What stands out most is how well the café balances its purpose. It caters perfectly to two main crowds: office workers looking for a high-quality to-go coffee and people wanting to spend a few productive hours on-site. The environment is lively but not overwhelming, with just the right level of background buzz to feel connected without being distracted.

Overall, Alias Coffee offers great drinks, a pleasant setting, and a versatile space that adapts to different needs. It’s definitely a spot we’d return to — whether for work, a quick caffeine fix, or just to enjoy...

This is my second time here.

I returned because my coffee was ok, but more importantly the service was Good. Finding kindness in Albany is nearly impossible tbh.

Today, a holiday, it was rather busy. The girl was flustered at times, though never rude.

It's So cold & rainy today and I desired Hot chocolate. As I saw her completing the drink, I walked towards the payment area. She ignored me, so I went to the drink pick up station as she heralded my name. I was ignored there as well & finally she directed me to the payment area. This was Odd behavior & not how one earns a tip.

The drink I received was tepid at best. I asked for a new one, which is Barely any warmer. When I received the do-over, there was no... standard basically. The decoration was barely existent in my foam, which was okay. However, when she placed the drink on the counter, it sloshed then spilled into the saucer. She did not clean this up.

The funny thing is, I watched her do this for Literally the next person - was she 'Virtue Signaling' that I was only worthy of inferior service in her esteem?

Now, as I sit here with my iced chocolate 🙄, I see she is capable of both courtesy & professionalism. She has had kindness and ease with everyone she has served...

I am a coffee professional with over 15 years in the business. I've been all over the world, and have had the opportunity to experience some of the best cafes and coffees out there: So I can confidently confirm that Alias Coffee ranks amongst the best.

From the decor, to the atmosphere and lighting, walking through the entrance I immediately felt welcomed and drawn in.

I spoke with a barista and the owner, both of whom have a passion for coffee, and were friendly.

The coffee itself is excellent. Roasted well, the espresso when I was in was a blend of two coffee whose flavor profiles perfectly complimented one another, resulting in an espresso that was sweet, mildly acidic, and a perfect balance of nutty, dark cacao, and red...

Update: Removing one star due to their defensive reply to my review. I stopped in for a coffee and picked up a pre-made sandwich from the cooler. The space was cozy and a nice spot to sit for a bit, use the Wi-Fi, and enjoy a quick bite. One small note: the sandwich was labeled (and charged) as turmeric-spiced tofu, but I’m pretty sure it was actually salmon or tuna. It wasn’t a big deal for me personally, but I could see that being an issue for someone with dietary restrictions. That said, it’s a great spot overall and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a good coffee shop in Albany.

A great place to journal. I spent about two hours sitting here as I enjoyed two delicious cappuccinos and a croissant. Immaculate vibes with some throwback music playing in the background. Other patrons were able to work remotely or have a casual or business meeting. The owner and staff were exceptional. They were warm, welcoming, and friendly. I would highly recommend stopping in Alias Coffee whenever you walk by. It is a little gem of a cafe in the heart of Albany’s downtown!
