I’m visiting the area from Miami/Fort Lauderdale where the variety of foods is infinite. So, when I visited this small, friendly local diner I was expected a limited menu with a simple concept of “All-American” food. This held true plus a whole lot more! I ordered from their specials board which offered more complex concepts for the more “trained” (for lack of better word) tastebuds. It was breakfast time, and the “Mediterranean Omelette” caught my eye immediately. I had to look no further! I was little skeptical and a lot excited! And when I bit into the meal, I was beyond pleasantly surprised! Made to order, included a perfect balance of sun dried tomatoes, spinach, Greek olives, artichoke hearts and feta. Simply incredible! Perfectly prepared, I added their signature home fries, slightly crisp - these honestly were the best I’ve ever had…honestly ever! Hints of rosemary and onion, again, perfectly prepared! With, white toast and coffee. Let me just say that even the best restaurants in south Florida couldn’t compete with this fantastic breakfast prepared in a quaint little diner, in a quaint little neighborhood, in a quiet little city, where I grew up and left three decades ago! The patrons were anxious to chat, the staff was friendly and accommodating and the prices were unbelievably fair, I almost felt as though I should be paying more for such an amazing meal. The experience was a reminder of how the hometown experience still thrives in places like Gilliana’s Diner! I recommend this place a...
Read moreMy grandma and I go out on Friday nights to try new restaurants. She saw Gilliana's in the pennysaver so we gave it a go. We walked in and were greeted by three happy people. Our waitress was extremely nice and friendly. She said her name was Jill (Gill? possibly the owner?) My grandma ordered the meatballs with pasta. She said the pasta and meatballs were good. She wasn't a fan of the sauce as she said it was sweet. She has never been a fan of a sweeter red sauce though. I got the baked haddock and it was delicious. Most restaurants do something crazy with there fish and I don't like it. Here, it was simple ingredients just like if I were to make it at home. It came with delicious onion rings. They didn't taste like frozen rings. They tasted like they were dripped in a homemade batter then fried. Then Italian bread with housemade sun dried tomato butter. Delicious. The bread tasted store bought which I still enjoyed. But with the butter it was sooo good. Everything tasted like if I was eating at home. Homemade. I believe that it was a great dining experience. Great service. Great food. After looking at the menu, I plan on coming back for breakfast. And lunch....
Read moreI believe in accountability and I believe in doing what’s right!!! Earlier today I posted a review believing this establishment was owned by someone else!!! Let my MISTAKE AND MISINFORMATION be an example of how to NOT REACT!!! I DID NOT DO MY DUE DILIGENCE IN MAKING SURE I VERIFIED WHO OWNS THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! I personal spoke with the owner and she IS BEYOND KINDHEARTED AND FORGIVING As I’ve stated I have not tasted their food but ironically, the conversation she an I had left a SWEET TASTE IN MY SOUL!!! And also a slice of HUMBLE PIE!!! The owner could have cursed me, rightfully so, screamed etc but she DIDN’T!!! Her response showed her heart!!! I know in today’s climate it’s hard to believe or find a sincere apology But I believe strongly that accountability matters!!! This has truly taught me in my quest to want equality I have to make sure I AM BEING THE CHANGE I WANT TO SEE!!! After speaking with the owner I believe she ALSO REPRESENTS LOVE KINDNESS AND EQUAlITY simply by the way she spoke to me I PRAY SINCERELY AN ABOUNANCE OF BLESSINGS FOR GUILANA’S DINER...
