My wife wanted to try this place out so I figured we would give it a shot. We hadnt had a night out in a while so it was a little break. The inside looked smaller than I expected but it gave you a kind of old- Irish pub feel. It had dark wood all over and the walls were adorned with many different things.
When we ordered, I had the Red ale (forgot the name) and my wife had the Rohrbachs (spelling?). She ordered the Trinity sandwich that consisted of roast turkey, corned beef, pastrami, sauerkraut and sauce. I decided to order the guiness stew and clams casino. Her sandwich was a good size and only ended up eating half if it. Her only complaint was that the bread was greasy. None of the meat looked that greasy and it wasnt even fatty so we werent sure where all of the grease came from. My stew was nice and thick and had good chunks of vegetables and beef in it. I was a little disappointed in the clams since I could tell they were a frozen product. I was hoping that perhaps they were fresh and then stuffed. But the cost of fresh seafood is costly so I understand that isnt probably feasible. My wife enjoyed her beer so much we actually got more of it at the store afterwards.
Overall, O'Lacys is a nice little pub. Its kind of hidden on a side street in the middle of the road. The service there was good and food was decent. If you eat there you wont be leaving hungry,...
Read moreI have been to O'Lacy's several times. It's usually great and I will certainly be back. However, their corned beef and cabbage is terrible. I went there specifically because it's an Irish pub and thought it would be awesome. First- the corned beef was stringy. The chef does not know how to cut a brisket. Not an earth shattering issue, but it chews better when cut correctly. The biggest problem was that the vegetables were cooked separately. They were completely flavorless. I asked for the juice that the corned beef was cooked in to pour over my veggies - it helped slightly. I didn't make a "big stink" because I've worked in the restaurant business and I know that what comes out of the kitchen isn't the server's/bartender's fault. I just told her it was flavorless and ate the meat. I ordered a chicken sandwich for takeout for my husband. He said it was good. Here's where the restaurant made it right- I never asked for anything - I said I would make do and not to worry. She only charged me $3 for eating the beef. I think that was awesome and I will definitely be back because this was an isolated incident. Great...
Read moreGreat little place off the beaten path of main street. Easy open parking and seating while limited will be worth the effort to get in.
The seating is limited but also have a out door area weather permitting. The atmosphere was very nice. TONS of classic fun stuff to look at to make converstation about. The seating and bar is a classic relaxing feel to it.. I would say max 4 to
The food was equally amazing. The Ruben was very good. I give it an 8 out of 10, as I am super picky about the best ruben around. The meat was or is shreded, so you won't get get a huge chunk of meat all at once. The taste was spot on, and so was the toasty-ness of the bread.
Presentation was good. Someone took the time to actually look at what they are serving and ensured it looked as good as it could be.. I would say 4 person group max would be ideal for this place.
Service was good. Friendly. No issues with payment or the bill.
If you love the TV Cheers feel type place well...
