I thought the food tasted excellent. Presentation was not great. The server was way more interested in his earpiece phone call than giving me even halfway decent service. When I walked in.. mind you, I was the only customer. He handed me the menu at the counter and I had to ask if I could go sit down and look at the menu. This whole time he was on his phone. It was 1:10 pm and they closed after 2 pm. He finally came over and I requested a water, a lassi, and my meal. I also asked for a side of tamarind and mint chutney. I then decided I wanted an appetizer. I don’t get to eat Indian often so I was happy to order it. I went back up to the counter to ask for it. He brought the lassi but no water and then he brought my appetizer . While he was still on his phone. Then he brought my meal and didn’t ask if I needed anything else. He was in a rush to get back to his phone call. I had to get his attention and asked for a napkin, a water, the tamarind, and mint. These were things I already asked for. The only time he asked if everything was ok was when I was about to leave. The meal tasted excellent. The service was not good and unappreciated. I gave a small tip, but he really didn’t deserve anything. I don’t know why this day and age people can’t respect customers and give them good service. He would’ve got a...
Read moreThe food here is incredibly delicious and flavorful. The lunch buffet is always fresh, and the dinner arrives swiftly and always piping hot. The staff are friendly, but quiet - unobtrusively allowing you to enjoy your meal, but always asking how things are, removing a plate, or refilling your water. The basmati rice is kept in a large rice cooker to keep it hot, and if I could find the secret to their basmati I would be very happy indeed. The makhani and xacuti are delicious every time, and their naan bread (plain) is always fresh and just a little crispy. The masala chai is also kept hot in a dispenser, so it always tastes fresh and delicious. They rotate out some lunch menu items every once in a while, so it's nice to try some of the different dishes. Whenever I order to go, it is always ready and hot when I get there. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and quiet. I truly enjoy eating at Flavors, and Canandaigua is lucky...
Read moreWaiter was rude and the quality of the food was poor. The Makhani sauce tasted like a jar Italian Vodka sauce or a chef Boyardee base and was bitter. I doubt there was any butter and couldn’t really taste the Indian spices which is why we came. I asked for it to be medium heat and received very mild. My husband ordered chicken Korma and it tasted like they used a Campbells chicken noodle soup broth in it. I think it Contained quite a bit of MSG which makes me ill. Long story short, there is heavy cutting on ingredient quality. The chicken in both dinners was tough and we were only given a very small portion of rice to share, so we couldn’t consume the sauce unless we wanted to drinking. I’m not sure how this place receives such high reviews because compared to every other Indian restaurant in Rochester and surrounding this is definitely...
